Ridgewood NJ, according to Ridgewood water July is Smart Irrigation Month, a public awareness campaign to promote efficient water use. In the United States, more water is used in July than in any other month. In summer months, outdoor watering accounts for more than half the total water use of a home in our service area. And most water used to irrigate lawns and landscapes ends up evaporating or on paved areas. During #SmartIrrigationMonth take a look into some water-saving tips that will also produce financial savings and preserve our water resources.

At Wednesday Nights Council meeting Village of Ridgewood Manager Heather Mailander , Ridgewood water  35 wells that are operational out of a total of 52 . 8-9 additional wells that are currently not operational  will be operational by the end of the year . That is a 20% increase in wells providing water to the Ridgewood water service area.

Reader says , “there are swarms of professional thieves being dropped off in our historically safe quite neighborhoods”

ridgewood police

“The problem is not cars getting stolen from Starbucks because keys left in car running. Nor is it stupid people living with us. The concern to all of us is, and should be, that there are swarms of professional thieves being dropped off in our historically safe quite neighborhoods. THAT has not been going on my entire life. As for the police, they did respond quickly and they did watch the neighborhood the nights after to see if they came back for stuff they had dropped in haste running away. I also know that because they stopped a car dropping off my child returning home late one evening shortly after one of the incident to check the person driving. I find it quite misplaced to direct blame or criticism towards the Police when this is occurring all over the county and in fact I know it has been going on in similarly nice areas in the Princeton area as well.”

Ridgewood NJ, in Glen Rock a OPRA  lawsuit  in 2018 ,”a Glen Rock resident named  Timothy Larkin claimed he was “banned” from participating in a public dialogue on Councilman Skip Huisking’s Facebook page, which Huisking called an “official” page of Huisking’s, where the councilman conducts official government business.

On April 10, Larkin filed a lawsuit against the Borough of Glen Rock, and Borough Clerk Jackie Scalia, for denying an Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request for access to the list of Facebook accounts blocked or removed by Glen Rock mayor Bruce Packer and all members of the Borough Council. The suit is focusing on the public Facebook pages maintained by the mayor and council members, and not their personal Facebook pages.

Ridgewood NJ, the Village has installed new parking kiosks on North Broad Street (on the Dunkin Donuts side), which use a touch screen.  We are hoping that this will make it easier for those parking to be able to pay at the kiosk, as it is more intuitive.   In the next couple of weeks, the kiosk on the train station side of North Broad Street will also have a touch screen.

Below is a video of how to use the new touch screen kiosk.

The Village is also placing the video on the Village website.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood parks continue to be the source of concern . The Ridgewood blog has previously reported on the lack of basic maintenance and yesterday Van Neste square was strewn with filth . While maintenance has been sorely lacking , this seems to be more of a case of residents or visitors not putting trash in receptacles and not cleaning up after themselves .

Reader claims , “Ridgewood police say it is an organized group with workers getting dropped off in neighborhoods to find cars”

Ridgewood _police_theridgewoodblog

file photo by Boyd Loving

“We thwarted an attempted car theft from my driveway in Ridgewood near the same area the next night, Thursday the 11th. They came by about at 3am. Ridgewood police say it is an organized group with workers getting dropped off in neighborhoods to find cars. While locking will help, that is not all there is to it. They have technology and can sometimes unlock locked cars (think of your universal remote) and also they have successfully made duplicate keys for cars they find and want then come back later. So those of you that are posting smugly with no sympathy for your neighbors that have been victims might be surprised if you could be a victim too someday. Even more upsetting is that if we catch they guys like in the videos, they are just the punks recruited from Paterson or Newark. But the car theft business will continue on with new recruits.”

Promoter of High Density Housing Complains Village is Being Ruined?

Ridgewood 3 amigos

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

“An open letter to the Village Council re the news that the Gap is closing:

Anne Taylor gone. Jos. Banks, gone. Now the Gap closing. Empty storefronts. Potholed Streets. Vanity and wasteful projects that don’t seem to end. Indirect taxes on the rise. A parking situation that is a joke. On, and on, and on….

When will you have the decency and intellectual honesty to admit the damage you are causing to our beloved town?

Rurik Halaby”

Ridgewood NJ, just a reminder Mr. Halaby was a huge supporter of the Aronsohn administration and its sell out to developers , ringing the central business district with high density housing . The high density housing and the impending increase in residents , traffic and parking will lead to a need for an increase in public safety personnel, road construction, parking, water  , sewage and school construction . That means the consequence of allowing over development will be that taxes will continue to spiral upwards driving more people from the Village and your property values will continue to be depressed .

Mr Halaby was also part of the group that wanted to clear cut Schedler Park and build a turf baseball field .

Reader says ,”There will be no more “rich” to tax once all the rich have left”

jon bon jovi191

Ridgewood NJ, news reports indicate that Phil Simms and Jon Bon Jovi are selling their high-priced, high-taxed New Jersey homes, possibly at deep-discounts.

a reader states the obvious ,”There will be no more “rich” to tax once all the rich have left. The “rich” can take the hit on their mansions in NJ and CT and make the difference up very quickly by moving to FL and paying a fraction of the taxes there. The dems and progs just don’t get this very simple concept.”

This is not the typical kid taking the car for a joyride. Or fashion shop shops. This is big time big money very organized. This has been going on for a few years in our area. The old days they broke your window, I want to use the old fashions SlimJim That’s over”
