Twp of Washington NJ, the Township of Washington Police Department advises all residents that no matter what time of day it is, their vehicles should remain locked and valuables should not be in Plain-view. Due to one of our residents locking their vehicle, moments ago a thief left the area without being able to enter or steal their car. We urge our residents to report any and all suspicious activity immediately, and keep locking your cars, removing your valuables and keys/key fobs.

Ramapo NY, Ramapo Police Department currently investigating 2 stolen vehicles from the Village of Airmont that occurred in the early morning hours on today’s date (9/21/21). Potential suspect attempt to enter 3 cars which were parked in a resident’s driveway. These vehicles were LOCKED, so he moved on to a neighbor’s house whose doors were left UNLOCKED with the keys inside. One of the stolen vehicles has been recovered, the other has not yet been found. Ramapo Police would like to once again remind our residents to LOCK YOUR VEHICLES to prevent these thefts!

Closter NJ, on September 15th ,Closter Police Department reported that yet again, we had TWO more motor vehicles stolen last night. As long as the criminals are successful in stealing cars in Closter and the Northern Valley area they will continually come here. They will continually drive around our neighborhoods during the overnight hours and look for vehicles with the key fob inside. It is becoming increasingly more dangerous for the residents and local law enforcement if we all don’t lock our doors and take our key fob inside. If you have trouble remembering, set a reminder on your phone and again day later another stolen vehicle with the key fob inside.

Woodcliff Lake NJ, on July 25th the Woodcliff Lake Police Department reported , “Another car was stolen in town last night. Key fob was left in it. We can not stress enough, Do not leave you key fobs in your vehicles if you want them there in the morning. ” Larcenies of vehicles and from vehicles are often crimes of opportunity. Newark NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal announced that five defendants were indicted today on charges that they conspired to operate a Newark-based stolen auto trafficking ring that fenced stolen luxury vehicles. They were charged in an investigation by the New Jersey State Police Motor Vehicle Crimes North Unit and the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ).

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police Department despite the COVID-19 Crisis and stay at home orders, North Jersey communities continue to be plagued by vehicle thefts. In each and every case the keys or key fobs have been left in the unlocked vehicles or immediately accessible. During the month of May, a total of four vehicles have been stolen in Glen Rock under these circumstances. The most recent of which was reported on May 13th, taken from a resident’s driveway overnight. Two of the vehicles stolen over the last month belonged to the Glen Rock DPW. The other belonged to a resident and was parked in front of their home. In the past these types of thefts have happened in neighborhoods all over Glen Rock.

Oradell NJ, the Oradell Police report that on 11/24/19 at 3:57AM, a 2018 White Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from the vicinity of Schaefer Ave and John St. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key fob inside. This a reminder to secure your vehicles and to remove all items of value. Anyone with information in regards to the stolen motor vehicle, please contact the Oradell Police Department at 201-261-0200.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on July 10th, the Ridgewood Police responded and investigated nine reports of car burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles. All the vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked during the overnight hours.
Additionally on July 12th, six car burglaries were reported to have occurred during the overnight hours. All six vehicles were left unlocked and discovered to have been entered and rifled through. Only one victim reported personal property was taken from the vehicle at this time.
The Ridgewood Police are investigating multiple car burglaries and thefts from within. Multiple vehicles have been stolen and in all cases the vehicles have been left unlocked.
We remind everyone to please remove all of your valuables from your vehicles and lock the vehicle doors. Remove all key fobs and valet keys from your vehicle.
These types of crimes are preventable and are crimes of opportunity.
