Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Emergency Services would like to thank the Grace Church of Ridgewood and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Ridgewood for all the help and time to landscape our Headquarters yesterday.  While the Emergency Services Volunteers were responding to emergency calls in the Village and covering the Ridgewood Baseball Parade, Volunteers from the Grace Church of Ridgewood graciously landscaped around the headquarters of Ridgewood Emergency Services.  A great spring clean-up to beautify Ridgewood.

Volunteers helping Volunteers.  Thanks to the Village of Ridgewood for the materials and tools to do the job.

Reader says this is an attempt to make Ridgewood Elections more Partisan

pay cash by quaziefoto1

“This year, the election occurred during school vacation, in spite of efforts for mail in ballots, you cannot expect high turnout.
We need to vote on school budget; much more transparency, more hearings, more public scrutiny.and more important, we need to vote on candidates. Ever since the vote was moved from April to Nov years ago, not one contested election. Is that voter participation? Lets see how it goes next year, when there will be an actual choice of members of the Bd of Ed.

Vote Ridgewood NJ

“Jeff Voigt and Siobhan Winograd cannot be trusted. Ms. Winograd, along with Steve Friedes, recently became the administrators of the Facebook group Ridgewood Mom’s and Dads. Members are fed a daily dose of her one -sided campaign of misinformation intended to persuade readers to forfeit their right to vote on the biggest budget impacting local property taxes. Ms. Winograd, hardly a trustworthy advocate for transparency and fairness, has conveniently blocked many residents from seeing her posts, preventing them from participating in the discussion while other Ridgewood residents are completely blocked from the group. She has hijacked Ridgewood mom’s and dad’s to advance her political agenda. Members are unaware as Ms. Winograd spreads misinformation unchecked and unchallenged. Most recently Matt Lindenberg, one of Winograd’s partners in the scheme to take away your right to vote, announced a 60% voter participation in the previous November Board of Education elections. Not only did that not happen, it is not indicative of the comparatively and significantly smaller voter participation in the Board of Education elections at the bottom of the ballot. Yet, Lindenberg’s grossly inaccurate statement remains unchecked on Ms. Winograd’sn own Facebook thread.

” Let’s face it, empty nesters won’t be moving to Ridgewood, but they’ll be moving out. The village would need to accommodate more kids either way. It’s therefore reasonable that property taxes would keep creeping up. The best residents can do is closely monitor and influence village spending… and welcome newcomers by sharing best practices that made this place a desirable upper middle class destination in the first place. A passive aggressive approach doesn’t help anyone. And btw, many of NYC newcomers are conservatives, escaping liberal paradise of urban sprawl! You’ll be surprised – you may make some good friends with newcomers! “

Trenton NJ, on April 10th ,Governor Phil Murphy announced $1 million in Transit Village grants to revitalize areas around transit facilities. Five municipalities will receive grants for quality of life improvements.

Under this multi-agency smart growth initiative, municipalities that have transit facilities within their borders can seek to be designated as a Transit Village by developing plans for dense, mixed-use redevelopment that includes housing near their transit facility. The initiative creates incentives to revitalize areas around transit stations to create attractive, vibrant, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods where people can live, shop, work and play without relying on automobiles.
