Ridgewood NJ, according to the AP the number of pedestrian deaths in the U.S. reached a nearly 30-year high in 2018. A report released on Thursday sites smartphone distraction and the growing prevalence of SUVs as possible factors.

Last year an estimated 6,227 people died on foot from car crashes nationwide,  the most since 1990, according to the report. Pedestrian deaths now account for about 16% of motor-vehicle crash deaths, up from 12% a decade ago. In that span, all other traffic deaths grew by less than 5%.

Reader says ,”The council has quietly passed the ordinance without consulting any salon or spa”

It is unfortunate that the salons and spas were targeted. The council has quietly passed the ordinance without consulting any salon or spa, many owners in town have been open for decades too and could have been a valuable resource for this ordinance. The Ridgewood Guild and her Chamber of Commerce were not notified that this was on the calendar to discuss at a meeting either. The state inspects and a fee is paid for that inspection. Charging $150 for a duplicate regulation inspection is too much. It is expensive. What about the barber shoe and threading bars that have one person working all day ? 150 is not acceptable. A salon may have 11 chairs but 3 employees. When asked, the mayor, the council and the inspector could not (would not?) answer how many calls they get a year specific to the salons and spas, that were actual complaints. When asked, the mayor, the council and the inspector could not (would not?) answer what their actual cost would be to inspect a salon or spa. The fee that they came up with was dependent on what they see other towns like HACKENSACK doing. Although Fair Lawn has this fee and charges $35-$50. This ordinance needs to be amended.

Village of Ridgewood Looks to Reactivate “GeesePeace”

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, the Village of Ridgewood is looking to reactivate Ridgewood GeesePeace . Originally formed in March 2007, Ridgewood GeesePeace is a group of volunteers that recognized the health hazards associated with the unchecked growth of our resident Canada goose population and acted to resolve this wildlife conflict by implementing humane methods endorsed by major national wildlife protection and humane organizations.

During the first half of the 20th century, migratory geese were captured for use as live decoys. The resident Canada geese in are the descendents of these captive migratory geese. The captured geese, flight feathers clipped, sometimes with light weights on their legs, lured other migratory Canada geese into lakes, wetlands and rivers during the great Canada geese migrations in the spring and fall. These captive geese were also bred in captivity. As a consequence, their descendents do not have biological need to migrate to Canada since geese nest in the area where they were born.

How to Become A Better Editor — Tips For Essay Writers

laptop theridgewoodblog.bet

Ridgewood NJ, What does it take for one to become proficient at his craft? Everyone would agree that constant experience and exposure to tasks of increasing difficulty does the trick. But that can have a clause if the person in question doesn’t use the right tips and rules to address these tasks. It becomes a bit difficult when you set out to gain experience without the proper tools that will guide your progress.

In the writing world, it’s essential for one to look for new ways of improving his craft – be it the art of being a good editor or a prolific writer. Generally, as writers and editors, we are expected to get better at what we do, keeping in mind that consumer needs change over time. In this article, we would explore a number of helpful tips on how to become a better editor.

Tips – and more Tips

Editing is a wonderful job and an honourable task when done excellently. While it’s possible for people to perfect the craft over time, it’s way easier when you decide to do that while making use of thrifty tips. These tips are very helpful because they assist you in achieving the desired result within a shorter timeframe.

Let’s look at these tips in detail.

Using words that you can explain

Having the job of an editor means you have a very good command of words and their context of usage. By the context of usage we are referring to the ability to use appropriate word forms when needed and at the right frequency. A big error would be using big and difficult to pronounce words in editing simple fragments in a paragraph. Do not use words just for the sake of sounding advanced or learned. And be cautious not to use words out of context.

Relying on Spellcheck? Not advisable

Technology has made it very easy for everyone including the average writing essay service to just type words and watch them get autocorrected. Relying on spellcheck software can make an editor or even a writer become too lazy to learn the real spellings of words. It also makes them more prone to type carelessly. Careless typing with auto spellcheck doesn’t sound like a big deal until you have to work with a program that doesn’t have spellcheck options and you are unsure whether to write ‘center’ or ‘centre’. Revise your spelling knowledge constantly; you would need it when you least expect.

The Power of Outlines

Do you know that readers find it easier to follow when your train of thoughts is broken down into bits with the help of headers called outlines? Well, now you do. By default, someone reading your work would need to pause several times in order to connect the missing dots and get the whole idea. When you end up writing one long text without singling out any paragraph, your readers tire out easily and lose interest even before coming to the core aspect of the text. Always use your outlines when needed. You will be glad you did.

No duplicity

Here’s the thing: Shady business is frowned upon in any deal. The same applies to writing. Rather than being dubious in your work ethics, it’s best to work towards being more efficient and trustworthy. Remember that broken trust is very hard rebuilding; if you cannot carry out an editing task, it’s okay to admit. Do not start and disappoint halfway. Honesty has its rewards.

Precision and concise writing

A piece that hits the nail on the head without employing a barrage of meaningful but irrelevant words is one worth reading anytime. While it’s necessary to adhere to given word count limits, you should also be cautious not to make a point look too lengthy. You might end up confusing your readers rather than enlightening them on the theme in focus.

In conclusion, when you recognize the importance of your own work as an editor, you would work hard and give your best. It takes time and patience to become proficient, but it’s worth it at the end. There’s nothing as refreshing as a person who knows his craft well enough and does his work in a dedicated manner.

Jeff Blaylock is a freelance writer who enjoys researching on the best ways writers like him can excel at their craft. He believes everyone would always find something that works either way. He usually writes on techniques that work best for him.

“To stuff so many apartments in a suburban area that’s already dense is terrible. The impact will be tremendous. I see all 3 sites (including what’s being built next to YMCA) along the tracks as I ride the train every morning. They will choke the whole look and feel of Ridgewood. Current residents who appreciated CBD will try to avoid it at any cost. What’s most concerning is who will occupy these apartments. Multi children families, section 8 recipients (if they can’t fill them up fast enough)? Will there be speculation? What other games are being considered to mess up RW?

In Need of Urgent Cash? Here’s How You Get it Safely

Visa-Mastercard-credit-cards

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, From time to time, you will find yourself in need of urgent cash. If the amount you are looking for is way more than your current savings, you have no choice but to find another way to make up for the shortage.

When you are cash-strapped, your options of getting money quickly can seem very limited. However, the truth is that there are many safe options available to you. Before you make your decision, weigh each option carefully as each one of them has its own share of pros and cons.

Of course, you are better off avoiding debt as you can but in the real world, there are many situations that will leave with no choice but to borrow. There is absolutely nothing wrong with borrowing as long as you do it for the right reasons and have a good repayment plan.

Here are some of the ways you can get urgent cash safely:

1. Cash Advance

Some credit cards allow users to take out a cash advance, which they can withdraw from an ATM machine or across the counter at the local bank. While this is definitely a viable option, you should be careful because some service providers charge exorbitant interest rates for cash advances.

2. Peer Lending

On some peer-to-peer sites, you can get personal loans from strangers. Just like most loans, your credit score determines your interest rate. You might be required to show some documentation as proof of your income. You will also be subject to some penalties if you are unable to stick to the repayment schedule. Before you go for this option, it’s advisable that you confirm your credit score first so that you have a good idea of where you stand.

3. Payday Loan

This is another option when late bills or unexpected expenses come up before your payday. According to www.micropaydayloans.com, you can get this type of loan despite your credit score. Most lenders approve payday loans as soon as you furnish them with the necessary information. In most cases, the funds will be made available to you within the same day. The fact that the requirements for payday loans are very few compared to conventional loans is one of the reasons it is such a popular option.

4. Retirement Account Loans

For people who are saving money for retirement, there is an option to get a quick loan from the retirement account. The interest rates for this option are normally quite low. At the same time, getting a loan from your retirement funds will not affect your credit score. If you have other options, you are better off avoiding this option because you don’t want to compromise your future financial security.

5. Overdraft Loan

Some banks offer their customers protection on their checking accounts. An overdraft can come in handy when you have a pending bill that must be paid immediately. With overdrafts, you can use a debit card or a cheque to pay your bills even when you don’t have enough funds in your account.

If you look around you, you will realize that you have many ways you can raise money in an emergency situation. Before you opt to take on any form of debt, try things like selling unneeded possessions or taking on odd jobs. However, if the emergency is that you need the money immediately, then loans could be your only options.

“I agree these apartments will breath life back into our downtown. I see a future of more fast food joints, tattoo parlors, vape rooms and all sort of other steppingstones into the future. Its the vocalenti’s who don’t see the need for this development.

Yes, let’s not forget strip clubs! And bless those on the council who brought us to this land of milk and honeypots, and the vocal villagers who turned out to sing their praises and still offer apologies almost every day for them. “
