Ridgewood NJ, in what federal authorities have called ,the biggest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the U.S. Justice Department, wealthy parents  are accused of paying an estimated $25 million in bribes.Fifty people, including Hollywood stars Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, were charged Tuesday in a scheme in which parents allegedly bribed college coaches and other insiders to get their children into some of the nation’s most elite schools.

This scandal is certain to inflame longstanding complaints that children of the wealthy and well-connected have the inside track to college admissions , with parents using large and timely donations to encourage their acceptance.

4810 Store Closing and its Only March

Ridgewood NJ, all signs point to a retail apocalypse , according to Coresight Research.already, 4,810 store closures have been announced by retailers in 2019. . And it’s only March. Last year, Coresight tracked 5,524 store closures, down more than 30 percent from a record 8,139 closures announced in 2017. Among those closing are the Gap, Victoria’s Secret, J.C. Penney, Tesla and Abercrombie & Fitch .

Internet retailer Amazon said this week it will shut all 87 of its pop-up shops inside Whole Foods, Kohl’s and malls across the country. But the company has vowed to invest more in its book stores and other bricks-and-mortar concepts, including its cashierless convenience store called Amazon Go.

Ridgewood Man Wins $1 Million in “Jeopardy!” All-Star Games tournament

Ridgewood NJ, David Madden won $1 million after he and his team won the first-ever “Jeopardy!” All-Star Games tournament Tuesday. Madden was a member of Team Brad, which was captained by Brad Rutter, the show’s all-time money winner with more than $4.4 million. Madden got a $1,000 daily double in the Jeopardy! round .

Ridgewood NJ, Plein Air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable paint tubes and the box easel—the precursor to the plein air easels of today—allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air”.

Ridgewood Bomb Doc Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Bomb Plot

Ridgewood NJ, A former physician from Ridgewood (Bergen County) who planned to create an explosion that would topple an iconic financial statue in New York City will spend up to 25 years in state prison. Roberto Rivera, 66, received the sentence on February 22 following separate convictions for hoarding bomb-making materials in his apartment and for possessing assault weapons. Rivera claimed he wanted to plant explosives at the feet of the Wall Street Bull statue in Manhattan’s financial district in order to upend it—an idea prosecutors said stemmed from his involvement in the Occupy Wall Street movement around August 2011.

Ridgewood NJ, In preparation for winter weather conditions, Governor Phil Murphy has declared a State of Emergency throughout New Jersey starting at 3:00 PM today so that state resources can be deployed as needed.

Today’s weather will turn cloudy, with rain expected by early this evening, which will quickly turn to snow.  The heaviest snowfall is expected from 9:00 p.m. Sunday to 4:00 a.m. Monday, with possible accumulations of five to eight inches.  Please stay off of the roads to allow our crews to do their snowplowing work.
