Ridgewood NJ, once again, the Police Unity Tour is underway, marking its 27th year of honoring fallen law enforcement officers. This year, Ridgewood Police Officer Bigos and Sgt. McKeon have joined a few thousand riders and support staff on their journey to Washington D.C. and the Law Enforcement Memorial.
A flatbed tow truck was dispatched to aid in getting the vehicle back on solid ground. Ridgewood Police handled the single vehicle accident investigation.
Paramus NJ, a vehicle allegedly being driven erratically and speeding in Paramus crashed at the intersection of Route 17 northbound and Race Track Road, Ho-Ho-Kus early Monday afternoon, 04/08. The vehicle’s driver was handcuffed by Paramus Police officers and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus by a Ridgewood Fire Department ambulance. Two (2) passengers in the vehicle were initially detained by Paramus Police, but later released after being evaluated by EMTs. Police at the scene would not comment on the nature of their investigation, nor why the driver was handcuffed. Ridgewood Police and Ho-Ho-Kus Police also responded to the incident along with additional ambulances from Paramus and Ho-Ho-Kus. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked BMW SUV from the scene.

Ridgewood NJ, during Saturdays Nor-ester a tree and utility pole went down at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Gardner Road. Residents in the area were without power. PSE&G and the Ridgewood Police and Fire Department responded . No injuries reported.

Ridgewood NJ, on Thursday, Gary Weitzen, the Executive Director of POAC Autism Services gave his first of three training sessions to members of the Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Departments. Gary gives specific training to first responders who deal with residents in our community who are on the Autism Spectrum.

Fort Lee NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of OLIVER GARCIA (DOB: 4/3/1995; single; mechanic) of 183 Garfield Avenue, Apartment 1R, Jersey City, NJ for knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury, hindering apprehension, and tampering with physical evidence. The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Fort Lee Police Department under the direction of Chief Matthew J. Hintze.
Ridgewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ROB WOLFSON (DOB: 12/03/1953; divorced; medical photographer) of Ridgewood, NJ on the charge of possession of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck.
Ridgewood NJ, a Friday afternoon, 02/02, two (2) vehicle collision in the 300 block of Linwood Avenue, Ridgewood heavily damaged a Toyota Camry and resulted in the arrest of its driver for suspected DUI following the administration of a field sobriety test. A Jeep Cherokee was the other vehicle involved; it sustained moderate damage when the Camry slammed into its rear end. A flatbed tow truck removed the Toyota from the scene. The Jeep was driven away on its own power. Ridgewood Police officers transported the DUI suspect to Ridgewood Police headquarters for processing. Ridgewood firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill.
Hawthorne NJ, a Passaic County, New Jersey, man was arrested today in connection with his role in embezzling approximately $2.9 million from an elderly couple, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.
