SUV Overturns on North Pleasant , Linwood intersection at 5:15 pm Thursday afternoon

Ridgewood NJ, The adult female driver of a 4-door Ford Fusion escaped injury during a Wednesday afternoon, 04/17, rollover crash in the 100 block of North Pleasant Avenue, Ridgewood. The vehicle appeared to have hit a tree just prior to rolling over. The driver was able to self extricate from the vehicle.  A flatbed tow truck righted and removed the wrecked vehicle from the scene. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood EMS, and Ridgewood Fire Department responded to the incident.

Ridgewood Police Officer Charged with Luring a 15 Year old and Drug Possession

Ridgewod NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of PETER J. TUCHOL, JR. (DOB: 5/13/1990; single; and employed as a Ridgewood police officer) of 42 Zazzetti Street, Waldwick, New Jersey on the charges of Attempted Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, Luring, Attempted Sexual Assault, Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession Of A Prescription Legend Drug, and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Ridge Road Resident Not Fooled by Gift Card Scam

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that a Ridge Road resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters to report a fraud on April 5th. The victim reported an unknown person contacted her by phone claiming to be a law enforcement officer. The caller reported the victim’s identity was used fraudulently and convinced the victim into purchasing a $500.00 retail store gift card. The victim followed the instructions of the caller and purchased the gift card but realized the call was a scam prior to sending the gift card. The victim reported she will attempt to return the gift card and recover her money.

Ridgewood NJ, Prescription Take Back sponsored by DEA, will take place at the Ridgewood Police Department, Saturday 27th from 10AM to 2PM.  Drop off any prescription medications at the Ridgewood Police Department and they will dispose of them for you.  This  semi-annual  collection helps  keep dangerous drugs away from children and ensures that they are disposed of correctly.

Michael Feeney (Honorary) Junior Police Academy

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke proudly announces the applications are now open for the 6th Class of the Chief Michael Feeney (Honorary) Junior Police Academy. The academy will be held Monday June 24th – Friday June 28th, 2019 at the Benjamin Franklin Middle School. The academy is open to all residents entering 5th, 6th, & 7th Grades in the 2019-2020 school year. The mock police academy is to show the hard and exciting work of the men and women of the Ridgewood Police Department alongside their many counterparts in the Village, County, State, and Federal levels. The week is an intensive sneak peek in the many aspects and tools that are used to keep the community safe. Past activities include a Blackhawk helicopter landing, police K9, visits from the FBI, SWAT team, a trip to the Bergen County Police Academy and Newark Airport. Applications are limited and available on Ridgewood Community Pass. The fee is $100.

Ridgewood Business Accuses Other Local Business of “On Going Harassment”

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that On April 2nd, an Edgewater, N.J. resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters to report on going harassment. The victim reported he is a business owner in Ridgewood and he believes a neighboring business owner is making false accusations and distributing letters in an attempt to negatively affect his business. The victim completed a statement of probable cause and signed a criminal complaint for harassment which was forwarded to the Ridgewood Municipal Court for review.

Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood EMS Respond to an Alleged Distracted Driving Incident on Crest Road

Ridgewood NJ, Distracted driving may have contributed to a early Wednesday evening, 04/10, crash in the 100 block of Crest Road, Ridgewood. A Jeep Wrangler mounted a curb and wiped out a utility pole. No injuries were reported in the crash, but the Jeep was heavily damaged and required removal from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Emergency Services responded to the incident. Utility companies were notified about the demolished pole.

“Smash & Grab” Style Burglary Hits Broad Street in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Law enforcement officers from the Ridgewood Police Department will be cracking down on distracted drivers during April as part of New Jersey’s UDrive. UText. UPay. enforcement campaign.

Beginning April 1 and running through April 21, the high visibility law enforcement initiative will target motorists who engage in dangerous distracted driving behaviors such as talking on hand-held cell phones and sending text messages while driving.

Midland Park Resident Reports Assault at Ridgewood Business

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police report a Midland Park, N.J. resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on March 23rd to report being of the victim of an assault in the past. The victim reported the incident occurred while he was visiting a business on Godwin Avenue when the actor physically assaulted him causing minor injury. The victim was able to identify the actor but he did not wish to pursue complaints at this time.

Reports Continue of Mail theft at Ridgewood Post Office

Ridgewood Police continue to report mail box theft. On March 20th, a Haverstaw, N.Y. resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters to report a theft in the past. The victim reported sending three money orders through the Ridgewood Post Office, however the money orders did not reach the intended recipient in Binghamton, N.Y. but discovered to have been endorsed by an unknown person in Haverstaw, N.Y. The victim requested documentation of the incident.

Pedestrian Hit In Cross Walk in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on March 19th patrol units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of East Glen Avenue and North Maple Avenue. Upon arrival the pedestrian was treated for minor injuries and transported by ambulance to the Valley Hospital. The driver of the vehicle involved was issued a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
