Ridgewood Police Called in on Criminal Trespass

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on March 18th patrol units responded to a Cliff Street residence on a report of criminal trespass. The victim reported discovering an unknown person had entered onto his property and opened the garage door. Patrol units responded to the area and located the male party. The victim reported nothing was missing from the property and did not wish to sign complaints after police interviewed the actor.

Ridgewood Resident Gets Duped on Renovation Loan

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Police Department a Van Buren Street resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on March 12th to report being the victim of bad checks. The victim reported after agreeing to provide a private loan in the amount of $219,000 for a real estate renovation she began to receive checks which were deposited and returned for insufficient funds. Det. Peter Youngberg provided the victim with instructions on how to proceed with attempting to collect the debt through civil court or signing criminal complaints.

Demands for immediate payment and scammers posing as utility workers remain top scams

Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), New Jersey’s largest utility, is reminding customers to stay alert to scammers, particularly those posing as utility workers or demanding immediate payment for utility bills.

Several law enforcement agencies in the tristate area have reported a rise in scam activity recently and customers need to remain vigilant. According to the Federal Trade Commission, the top scams in New Jersey are impostor scams and debt collection scams. Last year, more than 20,000 people in our state reported scams costing over $25 million. In 2018, more than 300 scams were reported to PSE&G – a 25 percent increase over 2017.

FedEx delivery Van Collides with a Jeep at the Intersection of Grove Street and South Van Dien

Ridgewood NJ, A FedEx delivery van collided with a Jeep at the intersection of Grove Street and South Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood on Monday afternoon, 03/25. Following impact, the Jeep completely rolled over and subsequently landed upright. It’s lone occupant, an adult female driver, sustained a minor hand injury and was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. The FedEx delivery driver was not injured, and his vehicle suffered cosmetic damage only. The Jeep was totaled; it was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department also responded to the incident.

Man Picked Up On Active Warrant in Ridgewood For Making “Terroristic Threats”

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police Report that on March 15th, patrol units responded to the Passaic County Jail for a prisoner transport. Upon arrival a 41 year-old old male from Wayne, N.J. was taken into custody on a warrant out of Ridgewood Municipal Court for conspiracy to commit theft. The prisoner was then served with the warrant and transported to the Bergen County Jail.

A 41 year-old male, Ridgewood resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters in compliance to an active warrant for arrest for terroristic threats on March 17th. The male was then arrested, processed and transported to the Bergen County Jail.

All actors are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Medevac Helicopter Touches Down at Vets Field

Ridgewood NJ, on Wednesday around 4pm a Medevac helicopter touched down at Veterans Field in Ridgewood , to deliver a patient from the Valley Hospital to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia .

Ridgewood Police , Fire and Emergency Services were on the scene and the patient was delivered to the Medevac by a Valley Hospital Specialty Care Transport Unit .

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood PBA was proud supporter the NJ Special Olympics in their 2019 Polar Bear Plunge! The Ridgewood PBA team made the splash for charity in Seaside Heights !

The Ridgewood PBA joined more than 7,100 participants in 2019, the Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside on February 23! That water sure was cold!

Vehicle Strikes Capital One Bank building in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, The adult female driver of a 4-door Honda Accord was injured during a crash in which her vehicle struck the Capital One Bank building and three (3) parked vehicles located at 10 Godwin Avenue, Ridgewood early Thursday afternoon, 03/07. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire, and Ridgewood EMS responded to the incident along with a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital. The Honda was removed from the scene by a tow truck. There was no significant structural damage to the building. Damage to the three (3) parked vehicles did not prevent any of them from being driven away on their own power. The injured driver refused transport to a local hospital.

Glen Rock Hit and Run Results in One Arrest

Glen Rock NJ, Hawthorne Police received a 911 telephone call just before 8:30 PM on Tuesday evening, 03/05, reporting the hit & run of a pedestrian in front of SuperFresh, 937 Lincoln Avenue, Glen Rock. The fleeing vehicle was described as a dark colored SUV with heavy front end damage, which was seen driving north from the crash site on Lincoln Avenue. Based on debris found at the scene, responding patrol officers determined that the vehicle was a General Motors product.

High Winds Toppled a Large Tree on Hillcrest Road in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Very high winds toppled a large tree owned by the Village of Ridgewood located in the 600 block of Hillcrest Road, Ridgewood on Monday afternoon, 02/25. A single family home sustained structural and cosmetic damage when the tree crashed into the home’s front side. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department responded to the incident. No injuries were reported, but the Village’s Building Department deemed the structure uninhabitable until repairs are made. As of Monday evening, 02/25, the tree’s remains had not yet been removed from where it had fallen.

Car Veers off Godwin Avenue in Detached Garage

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Departement , Ridgewood EMS, and a Village of Ridgewood building sub code official rushed to the 200 block of Godwin Avenue, Ridgewood on Sunday afternoon, 02/17 in response to several 911 calls reporting an SUV that had run off the roadway and crashed into a detached garage. Ridgewood Fire officials said on Facebook ” A” shift responded to a car that ran off the road and into a detached garage of a house “

Two (2) occupants of the vehicle were transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The garage sustained moderate structural damage. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreck.

Ridgewood NJ, A light pole was toppled during a multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 southbound near Linwood Avenue, Ridgewood early Tuesday evening, 02/12. At least one (1) vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. No injuries were reported following the crash. Ridgewood Police officers and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel responded to the incident .

Bergen Parks Department Truck Crashes into Office Building in Ridgewood’s CBD

Ridgewood NJ, A dump truck emblazoned with a seal from the County of Bergen Parks Department crashed into a Ridgewood office building in the Central Business District on Wednesday afternoon, 01/30, damaging at least four (4) vehicles parked there. The driver fled the scene in the damaged truck, but was apprehended shortly thereafter by Ridgewood Police officers. Before being taken into custody for unspecified charges, the driver was evaluated for a minor hand injury by Ridgewood EMTs. Firefighters from Ridgewood Fire Department and officials from the Village of Ridgewood’s Building Department were observed evaluating the structure to determine the extent of damage. The building, located at 257 East Ridgewood Avenue, the former Sealfons department store building houses PNC bank, real estate, and medical offices. Personnel from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s and Bergen County Sheriff’s Offices were assisting Ridgewood Police in processing the scene(s) and interviewing the driver. No injuries were reported by any occupants of the office building, which was evacuated immediately after it was struck.
