Media Giant Sues Ridgewood After Zoning Board Says ‘NO’

Ridgewood NJ, a major legal battle has erupted in Bergen County! Outfront Media, one of the nation’s largest outdoor advertising companies, has filed a civil lawsuit against the Village of Ridgewood’s Zoning Board of Adjustment following the denial of their application to erect a highly visible, illuminated billboard along Route 17 southbound.

This case pits corporate advertising power against local zoning control, and it’s complicated by significant local political connections that are stirring controversy on social media.

Ridgewood Says “NO” to Route 17 Electronic Bill Board

Ridgewood NJ, the controversial electronic billboard application that was slated for 500 Route 17 South was denied unanimously  by the  Ridgewood Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Residents Show Strong Opposition to Electronic Billboard in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, at the April 23, 2024 Ridgewood Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting,in the matter of the Outfront Media LLC application to place an electronic billboard at 500 Route 17 South, there was a packed courtroom.  Thirty-three people spoke in strong opposition to the application, citing myriad reasons why this should not be allowed.  People who had spoken previously were not permitted a second opportunity to speak.  No one spoke in favor of the proposed billboard.
