Saddle Brook NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the supersession by his office of the Saddle Brook Police Department. As announced a short time ago by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Saddle Brook Police Chief Robert Kugler has been charged with offenses related to his conduct in office as Police Chief. The New Jersey State Police have arrested James Fogel, 33, of Corona, N.Y., Benjamin Martinez, 21, of Yonkers, N.Y., and Shanel Torres, 28, of Flushing, N.Y. after a motor vehicle stop leads to the seizure of drugs and handguns.

Thousands At Risk for Possible exposure to HIV, hepatitis at Bergen County surgery center

Saddle Brook NJ, On September 7, 2018, the New Jersey Department of Health closed the HealthPlus Surgery Center in Saddle Brook , “because some members of our staff were not following proper sterile processing procedures and failed to comply with other regulations regarding the dispensing and storage of medication, as well as infection control planning and procedures,” according to the statement, which noted that the facility opened again three weeks later after addressing key safety issues.

According to ABC News ,over,”  3,000 patients of a surgery center in Bergen County, New Jersey, may have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C, according to the New Jersey Department of Health and the HealthPlus Surgery Center in the town of Saddle Brook.”

The NJ Department of Health stated, “An investigation by the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) revealed that during this time period, lapses in infection control in sterilization/cleaning instruments and the injection of medications may have exposed patients to bloodborne pathogens,” the letter states, adding that it is important to get tested “even if you do not remember feeling sick.”

NJ Health officials have issued a statement asking patients who received a procedure at HealthPlus Surgery Center between January and September of this year to get a blood test for hepatitis and HIV. The new statement notes that there have been no reported incidences of infection or illness relating to the investigation to date.

SADDLE BROOK WOMEN CHARGED WITH WITNESS TAMPERING

Saddle Brook NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of KRISTEN AQUINO (DOB: 8-23-1977; single; and self-employed) of Saddle Brook, New Jersey on a charge of Witness Tampering. The arrest came about as the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Saddle Brook Police Department under the direction of Chief Robert Kugler.

On Monday, January 8, 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that two victims of a sexual assault investigation were being coerced to recant allegations previously made to law enforcement officers. As a result of the information received, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Saddle Brook Police Department initiated an investigation during which several individuals were interviewed regarding possible witness tampering.

As a result of the investigation, Kristen AQUINO was arrested and charged with one count of Witness Tampering, N.J.S.A. 2C:28-5a.(1), a 3rd degree crime. After being processed for arrest, AQUINO was released pending a first appearance at the Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.

Prosecutor Grewal states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Saddle Brook Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
