Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water would like to remind our customers to protect their exposed water pipes from the cold weather. For exposed pipes that are susceptible to freezing, let the cold water drip from the faucet; even a trickle can help prevent pipes from freezing. Water expands when it freezes so frozen pipes can lead to breaks.
Please be prepared and locate the Shutoff Valves in your home: water heaters and pipes have been known to break. Faucets sometimes run like fountains. When these things occur you should be able to turn them off at their designated locations. Most sinks and toilets have their own shutoff valves. The hot-water heater also has a shutoff valve. It is not uncommon that bathtubs and showers don’t have shutoff valves since the plumbing is usually behind the wall. You should become familiar with the shutoff valves and check to see if they work properly including the main shutoff valve for the entire house. The main shutoff valve is normally located where the water pipe enters the house. If any of these are faulty you should contact a plumber.

New Jersey Attorney General’s Office Today’s tip: NEVER provide personal information to anyone purporting to be an IRS representative who contacts you via an unsolicited telephone call. Instead record the caller’s name, badge number and a call back number. Hang up and then contact the IRS at 1-800-366-4484 to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you. Also, remember that the IRS will never call demanding immediate payment of taxes owed or a specific method of payment, such as a prepaid debit card, gift card, or wire transfer.

So in order to keep his special spot available an over night sign change was needed and there we go special parking for motorcycles, even closer to the Village hall the handicapped spaces . And average scores among the state’s public high schools ranged from a low of 795 to a high of 1,502.
Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Stigma Free task force announces that February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. More than 1 in 10 teens who have been on a date have also been physically abused by a boyfriend or girlfriend in the last year. Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month is a national effort to raise awareness and protect teens from violence.
You can make a difference: Encourage schools, community-based organizations, parents, and teens to come together to prevent teen dating violence. It is vitally important that we specifically speak to and understand the statistics involved with abuse in young people’s relationships. These statistics help to outline just how widespread of an issue dating abuse really is in the lives of young people.
Being able to tell the difference between healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationships can be more difficult than you would think. No two relationships are the same, so what’s unhealthy in one relationship may be abusive in another. Although there are many signs to pay attention to in a relationship, look for these common warning signs of dating abuse:
• Checking cell phones, emails or social networks without permission
• Extreme jealousy or insecurity
• Constant belittling or put-downs
• Explosive temper
• Isolation from family and friends
• Making false accusations
• Erratic mood swings
• Physically inflicting pain or hurt in any way
• Possessiveness
• Telling someone what to do
• Repeatedly pressuring someone to have sex

Ridgewood NJ TRANSIT Board Member Flora Castillo has been presented the 2018 Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award. The honor was awarded last night during a ceremony at Club 101 in New York City.
The award is presented each year to a nominee who takes initiative to facilitate professional opportunities for women and minorities, and promotes diversity, inclusion and multi-cultural awareness within their organization.
“To be honored with an award bearing Rosa Parks name is a personal and professional highlight,” said Ms. Castillo. “I’ve continually tried to follow her trailblazing footsteps in everything I do. That’s why I feel it is critical to pay it forward by advocating for diversity and inclusion and ensuring that our transportation and mobility services enable all of our customers, especially those for whom transit services are their lifeline to employment, medical care, education and all the locations that support their well-being. This is a tremendous honor.”
Ms. Castillo has served as a member of the NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors since 1999, and holds the distinction as being the first Latina to serve on the Board. She currently chairs the Board’s Customer Service Committee and is a member of the Safety and Administration Committees.
An ardent transit advocate, particularly for minority customers and customers with disabilities, Ms. Castillo has played a vital role in ensuring quality services for all
NJ TRANSIT customers, including increased seating capacity, cleaner trains and buses, new equipment and equity in the distribution of all NJ TRANSIT equipment, services and programs. Beyond being an advocate for customers, Ms. Castillo has been a strident and steadfast advocate for business opportunities for small, minority, woman-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises (S/M/W/DBEs). This included the creation of Diversity Officer role and enhancement on the focus of opportunities for minorities and women within and outside of NJ TRANSIT.
Due in large part to Ms. Castillo’s advocacy and guidance, NJ TRANSIT has enjoyed continuous and historically unprecedented improvement both in its relationship to communities of color, and dollars awarded to S/M/W/DBEs. Ms. Castillo’s advocacy for civil rights, equity, environmental justice, diversity and inclusion, have kept NJ TRANSIT focused on this critical dimension of the corporation’s current responsibilities, as well as its future.
For the most part, it’s all about trust when it comes to the accuracy of utility bills. We trust that they are right and we pay them. I haven’t had any confidence in my Ridgewood Water bills for quite a long time now. I don’t believe that there’s any deliberate hanky-panky going on but what I do believe is that the utility is run by a bunch of political contectees who simply have no other interest in running the utility other than to maintain their positions.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a one (1) vehicle crash into a commercial structure at 83 Godwin Avenue, Ridgewood on Sunday evening, 01/28. No injuries were reported in the crash. Damage to the structure was confined to a support beam associated with a roof overhang. The vehicle’s owner opted to drive it away on its own power.
