Paramus NJ, Valley Hospital was opened in Ridgewood in 1951 . The “New” Valley Hospital celebrated the groundbreaking of it’s new hospital , with nearly two dozen shovels cutting into a berm of freshly mounded earth in Paramus on Friday morning signaling the start of construction on the “new” Valley Hospital a seven-story, 372-bed facility located 2½ miles and a decade away from the controversies that thwarted its expansion in Ridgewood.
Ridgewood NJ, A 4-door Buick sedan wound up entangled within the heavily wooded yard of a home located in the 200 block of Rock Road, Ridgewood, after it’s adult male driver, suffered a medical episode and lost control of the vehicle late Monday night, 10/28. Ridgewood Fire Department personnel used a chain saw to free the wreckage so that a flatbed tow truck could remove the car from the scene. The driver was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Ridgewood Police was assisted by units from Fair Lawn Police, Glen Rock Police, and Hawthorne Police. Ridgewood EMS responded with a BLS ambulance; a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital was also on the scene.
Hawthorne NJ, A medical episode was the likely cause of a late Monday morning, 10/28, motor vehicle crash in the 500 block of Goffle Road, Hawthorne. Hawthorne Police, a BLS ambulance from The Valley Hospital, and a paramedic team from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center responded to aid the adult male crash victim, whose injuries appeared to have been non life-threatening. A hydraulic lift tow truck removed the wrecked 4-door Ford sedan from the scene.
Paramus NJ, The adult female driver of a specially equipped van transporting a wheelchair-bound passenger was seriously injured in a Monday afternoon, 10/21, crash in the 700 block of Paramus Road, Paramus. The driver was headed northbound on Paramus Road when she lost control of the van and hit a tree head-on. The wheelchair-bound passenger was apparently uninjured in the mishap. The driver was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked van from the scene. Paramus Police, a Paramus EMS supervisor, a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital, and a BLS ambulance from New Bridge Medical Center responded to aid the crash victims.
Ridgewood NJ, Two years Village employee Edgar Arevalo of Pompton Lakes was the victim of an indoor chlorine spill. Arevalo was working in September 2017 at Ridgewood Water when an employee from Farmingdale-based Miracle Chemical Co. arrived on village property to deliver chlorine. According to a lawsuit filed late last month, the chemical company employee failed to transfer the chlorine to the chemical storage tank properly, failing to secure the chemical transfer hose or using a defective hose.
Hawthorne NJ, Two (2) serious injuries were reported in connection with an early Tuesday afternoon, 10/15, motor vehicle crash in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne. The vehicle slammed into the wall of an office building while the driver was attempting to park at a nearby TD Bank. Hawthorne Police responded to the incident along with BLS and ALS units from The Valley Hospital. The wrecked passenger vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck. A building subcode official from the Borough of Hawthorne was dispatched to determine the extent of structural damage if any.
Ridgewood NJ, Melissa, a nurse on Valley Hospital’s same day surgery team, was recently honored for saving a woman’s life! Melissa was attending a summer concert in Fair Lawn with her son (pictured) and husband when the woman had a cardiac arrest. She performed CPR until emergency personnel arrived.
Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey State police got a call for a car speeding northbound on Route 17 just before 11 p.m. Friday evening . The state police gave chase, signaling for the vehicle to stop.
The troopers chased the speeding car for several minutes and cautiously approached the vehicle at gunpoint once the car had pulled over only to discover a woman in labor.
When they realized what was happening, the troopers immediately escorted the pregnant woman and her driver to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
Hackensack NJ, Hackensack Meridian Health’s Hackensack University Medical Center recently broke ground on a $714-million expansion. The nine-story, 530,000-square-foot patient pavilion in Hackensack, NJ will include 24 new operating rooms, a 50-bed intensive care unit, 150 medical/surgery beds and a 50-bed orthopedic center.
Parmaus NJ, Who knew that planning and designing a new hospital from the ground up would involve glue guns, yarn, cardboard and other craft materials! It may seem like an art class, but we’ve really been working hard (together with Hurley Palmer Flatt Group !) to move forward with the process of planning The “New” Valley Hospital. Staff involvement and input has been an integral part of the process.
Teams from services including Patient Admitting, the Surgical Suite, Same Day Surgery, Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs, Diagnostic Imaging and Emergency Services, met for a 5-day, hands-on “3P” workshop event (Production, Preparation, Process). During the multi-day “3P event,” the teams created and tested potential designs. This included designing layouts to scale, building full-size room mock ups, and testing the flow of patients, visitors and services throughout each area!
Ridgewood NJ, An early Monday afternoon, 09/15, three (3) vehicle chain reaction crash at the intersection of Linwood Avenue and North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood sent two (2) individuals to the hospital by ambulance, with a third victim refusing medical attention beyond an on-scene evaluation. Ridgewood Police Department, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS responded to aid the victims, as did a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital. Two (2) tow trucks were required to remove wreckage from the scene. The crash may have been related to a medical episode experienced by one (1) of the drivers involved.

But on Thursday, September 12, Dr. Teplinsky, who serves as Head of Breast Medical Oncology at Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care, will lace up her walking shoes to lead Valley Health System’s inaugural Valley Walks – A Weekly Walk with a Doctor.
Dr. Teplinsky developed this program in collaboration with Drs. Kariann Abbate and Benita Burke, two Valley Medical Group cardiologists. These three founding members of Valley’s Cardio-Oncology program recognized the need for all patients to develop a healthy lifestyle, whether as part of an overall wellness strategy or while coping with chronic disease.
