Ridgewood NJ, Due to the resignation of Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh, her unexpired 3-year term will be voted on at the November 2, 2021 General Election. Candidate petitions are available in the Village Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A minimum of 197 valid Nominating Petitions must be filed to secure a place on the ballot. Each Petition must be signed by one registered voter of the Village of Ridgewood at the time the voter signs, and each voter may only sign one petition. Petitions must be filed in the Office of the Village Clerk before 4:00 P.M. on Monday, August 30, 2021.

Ridgewood NJ, Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh resigned at last nights Village Council meeting effective immediately. Ms. Walsh says she is moving out of state . Bernie has been a part of Ridgewood politics for a long time and this was her third term on the council and she had less than two years into it.

Despite a recent recommendation by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that all people in Bergen County, including those fully vaccinated, wear face coverings/masks indoors, in public places, no members of the Ridgewood Village Council, nor anyone else on the dais, were observed wearing face coverings/ masks during their Public Work Session, held on Wednesday, August 4.

I am delighted that Village Council meetings are now being held live, and that those who wish to attend in-person can now do so.
However, as I expressed in a letter to members of the Village Council on this matter, I fail to understand why the option of making a public comment via telephone or Zoom was completely eliminated the moment the meetings went “in-person.”

Ridgewood NJ, after years of debate the Village of Ridgewood erected a parking garage on Hudson Street .While critics argued the numbers just didn’t add up , merchants and commuters rejoiced. Parking rates were increased to close the funding gap and kiosks were added to better maximize parking revenue .
