Intelligent.com Survey Finds 36 Percent of College Students Might Drop Out of School by the Fall Semester

The current job market and academic uncertainty are leading reasons for the possible decline in enrollment among American undergraduate students

Ridgewood NJ,  Intelligent.com, a trusted resource for online degree rankings and higher education planning, has published a survey report that examines expected college re-enrollment rates for fall 2022. The study highlights several factors influencing how many students will return to school or drop out for the new semester. Research experts surveyed 1,250 current undergraduate students expected to graduate in 2023 or after.

According to the report, 17 percent of students say they will not enroll in school, and 19 percent are unsure about their education plans for fall 2022. Students who started college in 2018 or earlier are most likely to drop out, with 22 percent of these students saying they don’t plan on returning in the fall. By comparison, only 12 percent of current freshmen don’t anticipate re-enrolling for the fall 2022 term. The Fed Wakes Up Raises its Benchmark Interest Rate by Half a Percentage Point

Washington DC, on Wednesday  the Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by half a percentage point, the most aggressive step yet in its fight against a 40-year high in inflation. In remarks after the Federal Open Market Committee voted to raise its key interest rate by 50-basis points for the first time since 2000, Powell rebuffed any suggestion that a mega-sized, 75-basis point increase is on the table at future meetings. The S&P 500 rose 3% following his comments, the biggest jump since May 2020.

Fire Quickly Subdued on Rooftop of Hackensack University Medical Center

Hackensack NJ, City of Hackensack Fire Companies responded to HUMC at 62 2nd Street for fire on the roof. The Fire involved a generator smoke stack with combustible materials at the roof line burning around the stack. Fire was brought under control in 30 minutes with no reported injuries. Companies from Englewood and Teaneck assisted on the scene. Fire is being investigated by Hackensack fire prevention.

Lyndhurst Man Surrenders to Bergen County Regional SWAT after Standoff

Lyndhurst NJ, according Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella  yesterday the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team and the Lyndhurst Police Department arrived to the  scene of a barricaded subject at 444 Thomas Avenue in Lyndhurst.  Police initially responded to the address at approximately 4:13 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, and they have been in contact with an individual in that residence since that time. No other individuals are believed to be in the home.
