Trenton NJ, Senate Republicans announced the “Three Rs” plan to fix New Jersey’s controversial new sex education and diversity and inclusion curriculum requirements: repeal, replace, and restore.

“Governor Murphy and New Jersey Democrats are trying to strip away parental rights in education,” said Republican Leader Steven Oroho (R-24). “Senate Republicans want to ‘Give It Back’ and have proposed the ‘Three Rs’ to fix our children’s broken curriculum and learning standards: repeal, replace, and restore.”

U.S. GDP Drops 1.4%

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) the U.S. GDP shrank at an annualized rate of 1.4 percent during the first three months of 2022, according to the BEA’s first estimate of first-quarter economic growth. Economists expected U.S. GDP to have fallen by an annualized rate of 1 percent. Marking an abrupt reversal for an economy coming off its best performance since 1984.

4 Charged in Connection with Multibillion-Dollar Collapse of Archegos Capital Management Including Founder from Tenafly

Tenafly NJ, an indictment was unsealed today charging Sung Kook (Bill) Hwang, the founder and head of a private investment firm known as Archegos, and Patrick Halligan, Archegos’s Chief Financial Officer, with racketeering conspiracy, securities fraud, and wire fraud offenses in connection with interrelated schemes to unlawfully manipulate the prices of publicly traded securities in Archegos’s portfolio and to defraud many leading global investment banks and brokerages. Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams for the Southern District of New York and Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael J. Driscoll of the FBI’s New York Field Office made the announcement. Both defendants were arrested earlier today and will be presented this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jennifer E. Willis. The case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Andrew L. Carter, Jr.

Wood-Ridge NJ, Wood-Ridge Fire Department Responded at 18:23 to the parking lot of Wood-Ridge High School for an Auto Fire. Engine 901 responded and quickly extinguished the fire. There were no injuries reported.

They were approached by detectives who shared information and a description of a subject wanted by Newark PD. The subject was wanted for multiple serious offenses.⁣

West Long Branch NJ, the public’s views of New Jersey’s quality of life and rating of the state as a good place to live are toward the higher end of their historical range. However, the number of residents who want to leave the state is at a high point, according to the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll.  The desire to exit New Jersey is showing a marked partisan gap, with more Republicans wanting to leave, that was not evident in prior years. Regardless, the state’s property tax burden remains the top reason people cite for their intention to get out of New Jersey, as it has been in the past.

Two Car Collision on North Maple in Ho-Ho-Kus Sends One to Hospital

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, one (1) driver was seriously injured when two (2) small, 4-door sedans collided at the intersection of First Street and North Maple Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus early Wednesday afternoon, 04/27. The injured driver, an adult male, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with a paramedic team assisting attending EMTs. The other driver, an adult female, was evaluated on the scene by Ho-Ho-Kus EMTs and refused further medical attention. Both heavily damaged vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, Ho-Ho-Kus Police, Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department, and Ho-Ho-Kus EMS equipment and personnel responded to aid crash victims, along with a paramedic team from the nearby The Valley Hospital.
