Ridgewood NJ, Two (2) female Ridgewood High School students sustained minor injuries during a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash in the Graydon South parking lot on Thursday afternoon, 02/10. Both victims were evaluated at the scene by Ridgewood EMS, Ridgewood Fire Department EMTs and refused further medical attention. The victims were able to provide a detailed description of the fleeing vehicle to investigating Ridgewood police officers.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police Department is proud to announce that Officer Vincenzo Vaccarella was officially sworn in by Mayor Susan Knudsen at February 9th’s council meeting. Vincenzo completed his training at the Bergen County Police Academy in December. Vincenzo is the son of Officer Rosario Vaccarella, grandson of retired Captain Keith Killion, and nephew of Detective Keith Killion Jr. The department is proud to have him carry on the family tradition of service to the Village. Vincenzo’s mother Kim held the Bible as his family looked on.

Glen Rock NJ, a tractor trailer truck delivering merchandise to a Lincoln Avenue located Glen Rock supermarket, struck and knocked over a light pole in the store’s parking lot on Wednesday morning, 02/09. The truck became impaled on the light pole’s concrete support base, which caused a significant quantity of motor oil to leak from the tractor onto the parking lot surface. Personnel from Glen Rock Fire Department and the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad applied absorbent material to the spilled motor oil. A heavy duty tow truck was dispatched from Pennsylvania to remove the truck from its predicament. No injuries were reported in the incident. However, the struck light pole was demolished and the tractor was heavily damaged. Glen Rock Police also responded to the scene.

Ridgewood NJ, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.6 percent in January on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 7.5 percent before seasonal adjustment. Increases in the indexes for food, electricity, and shelter were the largest contributors to the seasonally adjusted all items increase. The food index rose 0.9 percent in January following a 0.5-percent increase in December.

Ridgewood NJ, from the Tree Foundation , this week’s weather is warming up! Get outside and hunt Spotted Lanternfly egg masses. When you find them, crush them! Use an old bank card, small rolling pin or putty knife. If you find egg masses on your property from September to May, you can scrape them off using a plastic card or putty knife. Scrape them into a bag or container filled with rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer and keep them in this solution permanently. Egg masses that are scraped to the ground can still hatch, so it is important to follow all steps! Egg masses can also be smashed, but be sure to apply even and forceful pressure to the entire egg mass. A properly smashed egg will burst open. You can learn more about this method by watching our how-to video: ” How To Remove Spotted Lanternfly Eggs .” Remember that some eggs will be very difficult or even unreachable at the tops of trees, in other well-hidden areas, and they may be present throughout your neighborhood and community. Be aware that this method may reduce the number of nymph or adult Spotted Lanternfly you see later in the year but most likely will not eliminate the population completely from your area.

(DOB: 07/16/99; single; operator of DIRTY JERZY SUPPLIES LLC) of 9 Maria Court, Ringwood, NJ; ANTHONY GARCIA (DOB: 12/27/77; single; unemployed) of 772 First Street, Secaucus, NJ; and EZEKIEL PAULINO (DOB: 4/17/96; single; store clerk) of 70 Daniel Avenue, Rutherford, NJ on drug offenses. Sanjna Rajagopalan from the AcaBellas earned Outstanding Arrangement for her arrangement “Bills, Bills, Bills” and the Maroon Men placed 2nd advancing on to Semifinals on March 26th.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police captured an individual who allegedly tried to steal a Honda Odyssey from the driveway of a home in the 300 block of Gilbert Street, Ridgewood on Wednesday morning, 02/09. After being confronted by the Honda’s owner, the suspect fled Gilbert Street in a vehicle reportedly stolen from a Queens, NY based driving school, but not before leaving a bottle of liquor inside of the Honda. He was subsequently spotted driving through several Ridgewood and Glen Rock residential neighborhoods after leaving Gilbert Street, but was eventually captured in the parking lot of a Dunkin’ Donuts illegally parked at the intersection of Franklin Turnpike and Route 17 southbound in Ridgewood. The stolen driving school vehicle was impounded by Ridgewood Police and transported to their headquarters by a tow truck. The suspect was also transported to Ridgewood Police for processing. No injuries nor motor vehicle crashes were reported in connection with the incident.
