Payroll Employment Rises by 236,000 in March; Unemployment Rate Unchanged at 3.5%

Washington DC, (8:30 am)total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 236,000 in March, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.5 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment continued to trend up in leisure and hospitality, government, professional and business services, and health care. This news release presents statistics from two monthly surveys.

Ridgewood NJ, for those of you who wish to look at the Paul Vagianos Mayor Facebook page, you will now be able to see all the comments that citizens write in response to Mr. Mayor’s self-aggrandizing posts.  This was not the case until midday on Thursday April 6.  Prior to that, our mayor, who is supposedly an attorney, was circumnavigating the law by selectively hiding comments that did not fit his prescribed narrative of what a great guy he is.

River Edge NJ,  County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ERIC PALESE (DOB: 6/28/1995, single; warehouse manager) of Tarrytown, NY on charges of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sexual contact. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the River Edge Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Walker.

Implosion of the Fair Lawn Nabisco tower will force the evacuation of a few area homes in the adjacent and close Glen Rock schools has been postponed to an undetermined date, officials said Wednesday.

Hackensack NJ, for the last eight and a half years, Ridgewood’s Frank Delvecchio has served an important role in my administration as Director of Public Safety Communications at the County’s 9-1-1 communications center in Mahwah. In his tenure, Frank spearheaded a number of significant projects critical to law enforcement, our first responders, and Bergen County’s public safety apparatus at large varying from the implementation of technology upgrade to facilitating the growth of municipal shared service contracts for dispatch and 9-1-1 service for the County.

Vehicle was Towed from the Scene in Glen Rock After Trunk Fire

Glen Rock  NJ, a smokey Thursday afternoon, 04/06, fire consumed a Toyota Prius on Rock Road near Isabella Place in Glen Rock. The fire, which reportedly originated in the vehicle’s trunk, was extinguished by Glen Rock firefighters with overhaul assistance provided by Fair Lawn Fire Company #4. Glen Rock Police provided traffic control. The damaged vehicle was towed from the scene.

Founder of Mobil Payment System Cash App Fatally Stabbed in San Francisco

San Francisco CA, Bob Lee, the founder of the mobile payment platform Cash App, was fatally stabbed in San Francisco early Tuesday morning. As of this writing, the police have not officially identified a suspect or motive, but say the attack happened in the city’s relatively affluent Rincon Hill neighborhood around 2:30 in the morning. He was 43 years old.

Washington Twp Police Officer Organizes Blood Drive For Child with Cancer

Twp. of Washington NJ,  Cpl. Vincent Santa of the Washington Twp Police Department had the honor of facilitating a blood drive for one of our community heroes today, Shane McCooe who is battling cancer. Through this amazing donation process kids like Shane and others in need of blood transfusions will get the blood they need to help battle their illnesses. Shane is a huge football fan, specifically the Giants and was presented with signed memorabilia from Phil Simms, Saquon Barkley and Blake Costanzo along with gifts from our local PBA 206. Shane is the definition of a warrior at just seven years old and spreads joy just by being in his presence. Big thank you to Vitalant Blood Donations and PBA 206.

Single Family Home Fire in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn NJ, Firefighters quickly extinguished a Wednesday morning, 04/05, fire that started on the second floor of a home on Ruskin Road in Fair Lawn. No injuries were reported in the incident. The single family home was unoccupied when police and firefighters arrived on the scene. An investigation is underway to determine what started the smokey blaze. Also on scene Fair Lawn Fire Department , Fair Lawn Fire Company #4 , Fair Lawn Rescue Squad , Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps , Fair Lawn Fire Company #3 , Fair Lawn Fire Company 2 , Fair Lawn Police Department .

Mahwah NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of AMEL MERSALI (DOB: 7/18/1990; single; unemployed) of 2102 Hawthorne Lane, Mahwah, NJ. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Mahwah Police Department under the direction of Chief Stephen Jaffe.
