Retired Ho-Ho-Kus Police Chief Bobby Re Has Passed Away

Saddle River NJ, Robert Re of Saddle River passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.  Born on March 28, 1931 in Floral Park, NY, his family moved to Waldwick in 1937 and Saddle River in 1946, where he became a life-long resident.  In 1948, he graduated from Saint Luke’s High School where he was the captain of the baseball team and sports editor for the school newspaper.  After high school, he attended Farleigh Dickinson University and played minor league baseball for the New York Giants until joining the Marine Corps.   He served on the front lines during the Korean conflict until he was called up to play second base in the Marine Corps Baseball Leagues.  Afterwards, he returned to Saddle River and met the love of his life, Sylvia.  They married, raised four daughters, and spent 68 years together.  He later resumed his education and graduated from Rutgers University and is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA.  As a parishioner of Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, he believed in service to others and devotion to family.  He was an amazing listener, storyteller, and the king of silly jokes, but most of all he was the most loving and patient husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Water Park at American Dream Mall in East Rutherford Closes after Helicopter Display Injures Four

East Rutherford NJ, four people were injured when a display helicopter figurine came crashing down into a pool full of children inside New Jersey’s American Dream mall .According to officials ,one person was rushed to the hospital and three others were treated on the scene after the large display came crashing down from the ceiling of the DreamWorks Water Park inside the East Rutherford mall around 3 p.m.

Montvale NJ, a two (2) vehicle, early Monday afternoon, 02/20, crash in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue, Montvale, sent the female driver of an SUV to the hospital via a Tri-Boro ambulance, and a pickup truck through the fences of two (2) adjacent single family homes. The SUV was also propelled off of the roadway and wound up in a nearby driveway. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The Montvale Police Department is investigating the crash.

Sunday Afternoon Greenhouse Fire in Wyckoff Quickly Extinguished

Wyckoff NJ, Sunday afternoon, the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire on Crescent Avenue. Arriving companies fortunately reported an agricultural greenhouse on fire and not the actual home. Crews extinguished the fire and conducted overhaul. Waldwick Fire offered mutual aid. No injuries reported .

Doris and Bob Ryan were fixtures within the WFD. There wasn’t much that went on with the Ladies Auxiliary or Fire Department that Doris and Bob weren’t there for. Doris is now reunited with her loving husband Bob, until we meet again, May She Rest in Peace.”

Glen Rock NJ, the driver of a Ford Expedition sustained non life threatening injuries, and was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital following a late Saturday night, 02/18, rollover crash in the 500 block of Rock Road, Glen Rock. Two (2) parked vehicles were also damaged in the crash. All three (3) vehicles were towed from the scene. Glen Rock Police , Glen Rock Fire Department, and Glen Rock EMS responded to the incident.
