Prospect Park  NJ, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced today that Paterson Housing and Zoning Inspector Jose Fermin has been criminally charged with allegedly agreeing to accept and accepting money in exchange for issuing fraudulent building permits and other records purportedly legitimately issued by the City of Paterson.

Ridgewood NJ, on February 20, 2023, NJ TRANSIT Rail service will operate an enhanced weekend schedule for Presidents’ Day. The enhanced weekend schedule includes additional trains during the morning and afternoon/evening “peak” periods. See shaded trains in timetables and printable schedules and check footnotes for operating dates. Select NJ TRANSIT bus routes will operate on a special holiday or weekend schedule. Some routes will operate on a regular weekday schedule or will not operate.

Point Pleasant NJ, World Whale Day is an annual event celebrated on the third Sunday in February, which is dedicated to raising awareness about whales and their conservation. The event was first celebrated in Maui, Hawaii in 1980 as part of the Maui Whale Festival, which was organized to raise awareness about the humpback whales that migrate to Hawaii every year.

Ridgewood NJ, In celebration of Black History Month the Ridgewood blog recognizes the contributions of Black Founders and Patriots who fought and contributed to the founding of this Great Nation .

Cyrus Bustill

Cyrus Bustill was born in Burlington in 1732. His father was an English lawyer and his mother a slave. Because the status of the child follows the status of the mother, this meant that Bustill was a slave. He was trained to be a baker by a Thomas Prior, who was a Quaker. At the age of 36, Bustill got his freedom. During the American Revolutiion he helped the army with something it had a great need for, bread. He was commended for this service and received a silver piece for General George Washington.

Ridgewood Arts Foundation Grants Scholarships to Several RHS Students

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Arts Foundation was founded by residents of the Village of Ridgewood who saw the need for a foundation to provide funding for the many worthy artistic endeavors within and near the Village of Ridgewood and to encourage the further development of the arts within the community. They granted scholarships to several RHS students during their fall granting cycle.

Newark NJ, after completing a recent tour of duty, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Candia stowed his uniform and prepared to head home from District 2. Remaining alert, Candia visually scanned the concourse as he moved through Newark Penn Station. Candia spotted and immediately recognized a man who was wanted for domestic violence by Newark Police.

Bergen County Commissioner and Former Ridgewood Mayor Ramon Hache is not Entertaining Taking the Village Manager Job in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, contrary to the speculation current Bergen County Commissioner and former Ridgewood Mayor Ramon Hache is not entertaining taking the Village Manager job in Ridgewood . In a statement to the Ridgewood blog from Commissioner Hache, he said he decided not to run for reelection because he needed to take some time off to focus on his family . Hache said the family is his number one priority and the demands of county commissioner campaign would be to much at this time . He also expressed best wishes and the best of luck  to the Village of Ridgewood in the search for a new Village Manager .

Bergen County Commissioner Ramon Hache and Former Mayor of Ridgewood will not seek Re-election ,Plans to resign Early

Ridgewood NJ the word is that Bergen County Commissioner Ramon Hache and former Mayor of Ridgewood will not seek re-election and plans to resign early. According to sources Hache can no longer devote the time needed for his county government post.  His decision not to run came as a surprise and comes just before today’s 4 PM filing deadline to compete at the Bergen County Democratic convention. Once Hache resigns, the Bergen County Democratic county committee must meet to pick a successor to complete his unexpired term, which ends on December 31.
