Ridgewood Nj, it has been pointed out that an ad recently placed in The Ridgewood News from a group called “Progress Ridgewood” is asking the Council to vote unanimously on March 2nd to reintroduce the Village bond ordinance. The ad states that a small group is objecting again to the garage and that its based on incorrect information. They feel that the Council will agree to the Village bonding the garage if they all agree to the current garage revision.
According to sources , “Progress Ridgewood” was based on an email that was sent around, it was paid for by Mr. and Mrs. Halaby. They solicited names of people who wanted to be included in their ad. The ad’s characterization of “a small ground of vocal residents” is quite inaccurate, as it is now well known that over 1300 signatures were put on the petition to stop the BCIA funding, with more coming in this weekend. It must be emphasized that this grass-roots effort is totally within the laws of the United States’ democracy, and has been conducted with proper respect for the law. These citizens should be applauded for exercising their rights. The petition does not seek to stop the garage, but to stop the funding by the County. The ad’s characterization that “a small group…..stalled the project” is an unfortunate choice of words, as it is more accurate to state that a large group is seeking to keep the project funded in town. Something else to note is that least two of the signers are not Ridgewood residents and thus do not even vote in Ridgewood.
The Halaby name gives it all away .They are clearly not the best arbiters of what’s good for Ridgewood, as we have seen over the years as they seem to agree with every single major change that is called for and use rabid name calling as you have seen on this blog.
While many debate whether Ridgewood is or is not on a downhill slide; Mr. Halaby’s gloomy assessment is dead wrong as is his support for an over sized hospital, high density housing , and Godzilla garages in the central business district. Mr Halaby seems to have unwavering support for the council majority and is always on the wrong side for Ridgewood. Once again With all the distrust and misinformation flying around town its best to put off all major decisions for the New Council in June .
Mr. Halaby is on a downhill slide himself, poor guy, he has lost his mind.
For the record, I did not pay for the ad but will contribute to the cost. Also I did not write the ad. You will notice the supporters of Progress Ridgewood had the COURAGE to identify themselves as compared to the Bolshevik tactics of hiding behind anonymity. Lastly, I challenge any one of the Miserable Anonymous Cowards who drip their poison on your website to come to within a mile of my wife’s contributions to Ridgewood over the 46 years we have lives here. And by the way, I wear your insults like a badge of honor.

Yes, Mr. Halaby is crazier than I am. And that is saying something.
Rurik: We would all love to use our real identities, just like you. However, it’s pretty evident that doing so would result in retribution. I imagine such a move would see me and others encountering all kinds of administrative difficulties with our Village affairs.
The RBSA and Chamber of Commerce are more than just a few of those signatures. You wash my back, I’ll wash yours???
Bulk of the signatures are from developers, their mouthpieces (Simoncini) real estate agents, Chamber members, RBSA, Valley (doctors, emoloyees,, board members),
Two and even three family members signed separately and the list wasn’t very long in the first place. Puh-leez. At least the garage fight is helping to support our local newspaper. Can’t wait for Miss Gwenny’s full-page campaign ads paid for and signed by Daddy.
It is all business, those who serve the businesses, (PR, architect) and retired sports parents. And one man with anger management issues.
Rurik: People DO have the COURAGE to use their real identities… just look at the over 1300 signatures on the petition or attend one of the many council meetings on this topic.
So climb down off your high horse before your big head causes you to lose your balance, fall off and get hurt.

yes Paul because you live in a town where the Deputy Mayor makes threats in public meetings , anyone who speaks his mind get harassed, anonymous emails get sent to their place of business and dont let me forget a physical assault took place at a council meeting , but yes the meanies on the blog are a tough bunch ….
Does anyone else find the word “Progressive” to be completely obnoxious when used in this context. Unless you are in favor of change for change’s sake, your an idiot. Please. What exactly is it that Progressives are seeking to progress to anyway?

Better reprimand that wife of yours that the period should precede the quotation mark at the end of the sentence. Really? How can you stand to live with such imperfection in your partner? Outrageous.

Rurik… the silent majority will be vindicated I’m sure…. also you’re not allowed to use progressive unless it’s the lockstep definition as noted by Oliver… who feels strongly enough to post his name… I’m sure today’s definition of progressive is not what TR intended as well…
Anon 6:34, Interesting BUT, I did seek the opinion of a friend who is the retired editor of a major U.S. literary magazine, and his response was: “Yes, the Brits go outside the quotation marks, and in his recent book about usage Steven Pinker says we should too–because it’s more logical.
