Reader says I voted YES on the November referendum and am furious at the way the Council Majority is trying to shove this huge garage through by having the county bond it

Hudson Street Parking Garage

I am one of the petitioners and I can tell you that many who have signed for me state categorically that they voted YES on the November referendum and are furious at the way the Council Majority is trying to shove this huge garage through by having the county bond it.

No one is happy with the County bonding it. They want a garage, almost everyone wants a garage, but they want a reasonable size and they want Ridgewood to issue the bond. And to answer your snarky suggestion, we are not collecting email addresses. Leave that level of underhandedness to those who use private email lists such as CHURCH GROUP lists to disseminate their campaign information. (yes, you know who you are).

Stop making the claim that 65% voted for the plan. Watch this to see what 65% knew before the vote –https://www.tubechop.com/watch/7623263

  1. they don’t answer questions. the three amigos want this garage as their legacy. Sadly it will be another boondoggle similar to the village hall expansion.

  2. They mage a blitz on the Facebook Ridgewood Moms and Dads group in the days before the election. They changed their tune. You aren’t voting for a specific garage, you are voting on the need for parking. The details would be worked out by residents and the council. Residents would have input.

When I saw these posts from Gewnn and Roberta it was clear that they would say anything to get what they wanted.

And, surprise, now they say that the residents overwhelmingly voted for it. It was interesting how involved the unelected Village Manager was in this effort. Is this what she was appointed to do? She is more like a campaign representative than a Manager for All Village residents.

  3. Those of you that voted for this disaster are now going to pay the price. You were unprepared on the issue when you voted.

  4. I love how the Council majority and their handful of apologists view the results of the NON BINDING referendum as some sort of mandate from the voters. Now they portray attempts to question any aspect of the funding or development of this project as some sort of subversion of democracy. How dumb do they think we are? Answer: very.

  5. The referendum existed only as a last-ditch attempt to create false evidence of a public mandate. Always worry about motivation when you get a robo-call from an elected official identifying himself as such and saying he has paid for the call himself. Ten thousand signs saying “Vote yes for parking” did the trick because many were too busy to read between the lines…and trusted their officials…even though it turned out to be the Chamber of Commerce that was behind the signs.

  6. Does the chamber of commerce own the real estate inside the tree and flower planters up and down the central business district, every square inch of which was covered with a Vote Yes for Parking Garage sign?

  7. To sign the petition, go to http://www.no2bcia.com to find locations and people to sign with. Thank you!
The petition is to repeal ordinance No 3519, which allows the village to enter into a 25 year lease purchasing agreement with the Bergen County Improvement Authority (BCIA)

  8. Chamber of Commerce/Paul Vagianos begged the council to cooperate with each other and “do this in house”…see video of Council meeting Jan 27th…

Roberta dodging his questions of “will this be open to all Bergen County residents?”— the answer is YES, Roberta

Yes, Paul Aronsohn has been “working with the BCIA for 3 years” on this scheme-WHY?
Yes, this will cost more than funding within the Village of Ridgewood
Yes, parking meters in CBD will be extended until 9pm and increase to a triple the rate it is now
Yes, Ridgewood residents will pay the same as out of town commuters
Yes, this garage is for Bergen County, not for the people of Ridgewood who will pay dearly for it

Yes, the 3 amigos are shoving this thru as an end run around our municipal government. It is disgraceful and Ridgewood deserves so much better.

  9. I like many of my co commuters and Yearly Parking Pass holders have been paying through the teeth in both a forced 750 annual cost ( tax) so no,,, after putting up with all the nonsense by the town to reach this point as well as pay high taxes for decades..Say No..we do not want or need the county involved in our train area parking rates or issues..we are the stakeholders ..other towns are not opening up their train parking at Par..wake up ridgewood..sign the petition ..stop this runaway
spending..for what the restaurants business plan and more commuters inserting their cars into that congested part of the town..which today cannot support the peak throughout..People will be run over..in more ways than on a roadway..
