  1. Its nice to finally here something like this.
Suggest a lawsuit to recover tuition from parents, maybe triple damages.
Is there anything in place to assure that there are no abuses using the same address for multiple students who don’t live in town?

  2. That’s the way it works and if you don’t pay taxes to the village of Ridgewood you can’t go to school in our town because our taxes pay for the schools and everyone wants to live there but they don’t want to pay for it

  3. Exactly. 68 percent of our taxes are for our schools. Why should we pay for kids who live out of town.

  4. This happens in every district, someone realizes (often the teacher) that a child lives in another town/district. The district does a quick investigation and boots out that family/child. Not sure why it is newsworthy/blog worthy.

  5. Re: the comment about “it being blog worthy”. Of course it is. We need to know since it is our money and that they are doing the right thing!

  6. I wrote the blog worthy comment. So you
Want to know the handful of times each year this happens and the numerous times they hire (or even fire) a teacher, aide, bus driver, secretary. Or perhaps when they decide to buy new curriculum materials, supplies, etc read the BOE agendas and minutes for all that. It is certainly the right thing, but in the grand scheme of things it is beyond minor

  8. Only one student…?

    More like 40.

They get dropped off at Graydon and walk the back way into school.

    1. This is an investigation one of my GS-5’s could do.

      Guess it won’t get done……………………

    2. Probably more than 40. They announce this 1 kid who got refused so that the masses can rest assured that admin is doing its job. Meanwhile many other continue and will continue to game the system.

  9. We should know where these random kids come from. My opinion only

  10. As tax payers and village residents, it’s our right to know where they are coming in from

  11. Even when you move out of your home for a renovation and you rent for that time say in Midland Park, but keep of course paying your property taxes in Ridgewood, you are NOT eligible to go to a Ridgewood Public School. I know a family who lost a lawsuit and had to pay $$$ to the town. That is crazy in my mind.

  12. It’s no different to people from poor countries finding creative ways to get into wealthier countries. People from towns with crappy schools will do whatever they can to get their kids into better school districts. There are many such kids in the Ridgewood schools who get dropped off and picked up each day, with their paperwork falsifying their home address as a relative’s place in Ridgewood.
