the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, to some this will seem like old news that Paul was going to make a statement at the mic at the close of the League of Womens Voter Candidate Night and was shut down by the moderator . However many may be unaware Mayor Aronsohn was going to make a totally inappropriate statement regarding how wonderful Roberta Sonenfeld was as the Village Manager and then he was going to ask all six candidates if they would support keeping her on.
The league knew he was planning to say something and we were confident that the moderator would allow questions only and might have intervened anyway but the moderator was adhering to the format and when Mayor Aronsohn came to the mic, she closed public comment to move on to closing statements.
After the May 10th election the Village needs a massive house cleaning ,to clear the Village of all personnel who are paid by the taxpayers of Ridgewood who harbor under some confused notion that they work for some one else . If you work for the Village of Ridgewood you work for the Residents of Ridgewood period, you do not work for Valley Hospital, you do not work for the Hudson County Democratic Political machine , you do not work for the mayor, developers or any other special interest group . It is time for many to focus on their resume and move on .
I for one like some of Roberta’s policies and dedication to work. She however is not right for this job because:
1. Her political activism.
2. Hiding information from some COUNCIL members.
3. Working for special interest groups instead of working for the residents.
4. Firing some good employees just to make a point that she is ‘fixing’ things.
5. Her clever smile every time she can prove a resident or Susan or Mike wrong.
6. Hiring white elephants instead of solders.
If someone other than Paul and Roberta knew that he was going to make a statement about Roberta – then they have a problem. They have a mole in their team.
And If I may remind you , both Weitz and Voigt were the ones who said at the League of Women’s voters debate that the manager made good decisions.
Hey, guys, go listen to the debate if you don’t believe me.
That is why I am not for Voigt. If you carefully listen to his words that are carefully crafted, he rarely really commits. Or if he does it is on issues that are a done deal. For example, Voigt said he will try to limit the current 35 units on high density.
Hache on the other hand said, like it or not high density is finalized.
Don’t tell me that the zoning boards still has to finalize. They will and you know it.
Don’t play games with me. I have lived here for forty years, I love this VILLAGE. I want to keep it uncongested, so that future generations will have a healthy, charming place to live that speaks of values other than REVENUE AT ANY COST.
If you don’t believe me listen to the debate.
Finally, I did not support the mayor’s changes for Ridgewood, but I doubt he would be so stupid and out of place to ask that question at the debate.
Finally, I doubt folks are going to pay top dollar to live by a noisy train station. This revenue hike is pure speculation.
Diane you already said you were voting for the mayors hand picked successors
If hed had been allowed to inject himself and his politics on the League of Women forum then shame on him.
Karma that time ran out.
@9:40…woah. You are not really making sense here. Then who will you vote for? Brooks, Willet and Weitz all favor developing every last piece of property, size is not an issue because it is more cost efficient anyway. They will also follow planning boards direction and approve Valley expansion as is…why do you think Paul, Gwenn and Al are supporting them??
Voting for Walsh, Hache and Voigt is our best shot at protecting this Village from overdevelopment. Simple as that.
Dear anonymous 4/24 9:40am
Feel free to contact me about my commitments. I am actually the only candidate who is out front on my positions and publicly state them – so you know exactly where I stand.

Paul and his pitiful posset are almost done. Thank god.
I am voting for Hache and Brooks. Both of them spoke about saving the water here. And James, I am now leaving the blog.
You are not trustworthy. I posted as anonymous. I guess you don’t want my posts. I get the point. That is your way of stopping my posting by revealing my identity.
Well, I am used to being in the minority on issues that decades later become mainstream, from not smoking to banning trans fats , all the environmental issues about fighting for clean air , clean water and clean food. And an ecology that will support humans for future generations. When you shop at Whole Foods or buy organic items, think of me. It was my generation who fought for that. Who went into stores and asked stores managers to get safe items. Ww wrote letters for many decades on those issues before they became mainstream.
I will continue my arguments elsewhere. Goodbye. Diane Palacios
Voigt has been very clear about where he stands on the issues. The fact that he is willing to reach out to others that don’t agree with him and try to find common ground is exactly the refreshing voice we need.
For example, he said he is going to try and repeal the high density housing into something reasonable. That tsunami is the biggest issue facing us at the moment. Once we turn our downtown into a mixture of Hoboken and Hackensack, we will be changed for ever. We can’t afford 500 new families moving into the down town. We can’t afford the influx of school children. We can’t afford the problems of urbanization.
If you care about our schools, our fields and open space, our way of life . . think carefully before voting. Voigt is one of the candidates that reflects the values we need to move us forward.
.
Diane… according to people on the blog, you are not voting lockstep as per instructions. How dare you balance your vote.
to 9,24 so true,
We are unfortunately at each others throats. Current politics has lowered the bar to quite an uncivil
Level. Time for leadership renewal and a new chance at possibly more trust and openess. Disagreements are normal and part of any fair open dialogue.wish us all luck that a change is gonna do Us good
Diane, we all knew it was you from the wording and the content. James did not reveal a thing.
Village hall is a real mess. what is so screwy with them. At the top they don’t talk to the workers who know the job. what a sham.
Dear Diane: I am so sorry to see you go. While we disagreed on many issues, I could only be impressed by your caring and sincerity. I am not surprised by James the Creep doing what he did. Good luck to you. Rurik
Diane and Rurik, birds of an inappropriate feather. Rurik, why don’t you go with her?
Whoa, I heard tell today that our Mayor, who we are running out of town, recently paraded two of his candidates (Weitz and Willett) to one of the Broad Street churches. Shame on you mr mayor for going no to a house of worship to politik. And shame on you Weitz and Willett for doing that. You are all despicable.
Anon 6:25, at least we are not cowards. If you have something to say, stand up and say it. And until I am declared persona non grata by Leon Trotsky, I will be there to haunt you and your ilk.
2:25 So then identify yourself if it’s not a big deal.
8:30 Despicable? What candidate for any public office doesn’t stop at every house of worship in their district?
Weren’t the anti-garage petition backers outside of Mount Carmel soliciting signatures? Can you say hypocrite?
Rurik: Real men with anything to say do not care who they are responding to, they just do it. You, on the other hand, come off as someone who does nothing but run when confronted with legitimate questions regarding your positions. That defines a “coward” more than someone signing “anonymous.”
Amen, Bill H. ,!
