Dear Ridgewood Community,

As the new school year begins, we want to provide you with important traffic and road information to help ensure a smooth start for your children.

Please be aware that there will be road work in progress on Tuesday, September 3rd in several areas. To avoid delays, please plan for extra time when dropping off or picking up your children from school.

Specific road updates:

  • Lincoln Avenue: Closed between West End Avenue and Bellair Road for the week of September 3rd. Detours will be in place. This may affect traffic to and from George Washington Middle School and Ridgewood High School.
  • West End, Bellair Road, Doremus Avenue (north), and Ackerman Avenue: Work will resume on September 9th, but may cause traffic congestion during the week. Contractors will strive to limit work hours to between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM to minimize disruption.

The Ridgewood Police Department will be assisting with traffic control and detours. The road work is expected to last approximately two to three weeks.

We are speaking with the Village regularly to try and minimize further impact to you as we understand the inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as the Village completes these important projects.

Thank you,

Ridgewood Public Schools

      1. Not really, their parents basically do everything for them. How is their life hard?

    2. Back in my day, we walked through three feet of snow, uphill – in both directions!

  2. excellent…lets wait til school opens to shut down Lincoln AVE

  3. At least Clinton Avenue is open for business. It was so nice to see children and cars coexisting, just like MLK Jr wanted.

  4. Really, just walk
