Ridgewood NJ, Plans to enact a ban on the display of signs during public meetings of the Ridgewood Village Council are no longer in play. This was confirmed on Thursday night by Village Attorney Matthew Rogers.

The Ridgewood Blog is pleased to learn that no taxpayer dollars will be wasted on what everyone (except some members of the Council) knew would be an irrational and ultimately failed effort at restricting Ridgewood residents’ freedom of expression.

So, our readers may continue bringing their protest signs to meetings without fear of being ejected from the premises.

Special thanks to the ACLU’s guidance on this issue.

  1. You made this story up.

  2. No it is actually a real story! You can’t make this nonsense up, so just stop it. You should stay up to speed with all things Ridgewood, then you’d be in the know. I was glad to see people there with signs. After all, it is our right to free speech! Rock on people!

  3. This is not a made up story.

  4. No. This is the new Republic of Ridgewood.
