Montvale NJ, this is courtesy of  the Montvale Police Department but it applies to everyone, “We hope that your Labor Day Weekend was a relaxing and enjoyable goodbye to summer.”

Remember that driving past a school bus with a deployed, blinking red stop sign is dangerous to students and can get you a fine and up to 5 points on your license!

And Village of Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos asked everyone to be alert and drive carefully:

As we begin the 2024-2025 school year today, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of the students and families in our community. My daughters were five and eight years old when my wife and I moved to Ridgewood nearly 30 years ago, and I still remember the typical night before the first day of school.

Outfits laid out. Backpacks checked and rechecked. Endless questions. (What if I don’t have any friends in my class? What if I don’t like my teacher?) And the unique combination of excitement and apprehension that made falling asleep a challenge. I get it! And I applaud you and your children for getting up and out of the house today. The first day of school is a big transition for parents as well as kids. I wish you all a wonderful year!

I sign off with one reminder: Please be especially careful and alert when driving in school neighborhoods during drop-off and pickup times. Give yourself a few extra minutes, and be patient so that we can keep our children safe.

Warm regards,

Paul Vagianos

Village Mayor
