Our goal is to fix up the property and build micro housing units for veterans to stay in and provide them with a place of true rest and relaxation. Nestled in this quiet and serene environment, our veterans can focus on getting “squared away” through various program and projects designed to give them the tools needed to adapt and overcome.
The property has sat vacant for almost a decade and needs work. One major priority is the existing dam that was damaged by a storm several years ago and needs to be rebuilt. There are also structures that need demolition as well as the clearing of land and construction of the micro housing units. Our desire is to provide this service to our vets at no cost, so we need your help!
Dam repairs, fixing up the property, campground and construction of the micro houses is not cheap. We need $500,000 to get this project up and running. Together, we can leave a legacy and change lives forever!

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Michael S. Winograd is running for President of US Soccer. Winograd played Division I college soccer at Lafayette College and professionally in Israel. In 2005, he was a member of the silver medal U.S. Maccabiah Masters soccer team. He served as an assistant Men’s Soccer coach at the University of Richmond, where, in addition to his coaching, recruiting and scouting duties, he helped organize and manage the largest NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Final Four in NCAA history. He has coached at numerous youth soccer camps, including the University of Virginia and Phillips Exeter Academy residential camps. In a 2013 letter to the NSCAA Director of Coaching, former Richmond Head Coach Jeff Gettler remarked that in his 36 years of college head coaching and over 16 years of serving as a USSF and NSCAA staff coach, Winograd was “easily” one of the top people he had worked with.” Gettler went on to describe Winograd as “an outstanding individual with a dynamic way with people” and praised his “ability to communicate” and “depth of knowledge.”

Like many of you, I am concerned with the current state of US Soccer particularly as it relates to the progress on the field and increasingly fractured nature of its constituency. US Soccer has made great strides, but the systemic problems that have been building over time are taking a serious toll. After sharing some of my ideas on how to move forward with folks around the country, I have been persuaded to run for President of the Federation by many who have already cast their support behind my candidacy. I now ask that you join our movement to make US Soccer better.
Like many of you, I have invested thousands of hours in the sport as an athlete, parent and member of my community out of a love for the game and desire to help soccer in this country grow and improve. I have played soccer at the youth, collegiate and professional levels, coached at the youth and collegiate levels, and managed at the youth and professional levels.
Like many of you, I have also held down a full-time job while continuing to stay involved in soccer. For the last 17 years, I have been a corporate attorney in New York City representing some of the largest companies, domestic and foreign, in high stakes cases and negotiations, and have been an adjunct law professor since 2003. At the same time, I have raised two children with my wife in Ridgewood, NJ, both of whom play the game.
Like many of you, I believe we need change within the Federation. It is time that issues such as the process and transparency by which critical decisions are made, the clarity and effectiveness of our development path for young athletes, the disparate treatment of the US women’s programs, and the prohibitive costs for player participation and coaching education are addressed and resolved through collaborative efforts.
I pledge to work with all of US Soccer’s members, create merit-based committees, and ensure transparency in taking a fresh look at and resolving these and other issues. There is no magic talisman to effect these necessary changes. It will take intelligence, fairness and candor, as well as a deep understanding of the game from all perspectives. It will take diligence, hard work and perseverance. My soccer experiences, on and off the field, as well as my experience as a corporate lawyer and educator have prepared me to serve as President of our Federation.

The Village’s Leaf Collection Program will begin on October 23rd
All residents have received a yellow postcard with the leaf collection program requirements. The leaf collection areas are based on yardwaste areas (A-D), with certain exceptions listed for Area D, during leaf season only. All areas will have three collection times.
Leaves are to be placed along the curbline, in the street, only during the leaf placement dates listed for your area on the postcard. You may not place leaves into the street after the last leaf placement date for your area, until the next round of leaf placement dates for your area. If you employ a landscaper, please communicate your leaf placement dates to them. Please be aware that leaves placed in the street, after the street is complete, may result in a summons being issued.
No brush will be collected during leaf season. In addition, do not place trash, stones, branches, twigs or other yardwaste into the leaf piles.

PERMANENT, YEAR-ROUND WATER CONSERVATION REGULATIONS
As the weather begins to turn, Ridgewood Water would like to extend its gratitude to residents for their compliance with the water regulations established in Ordinance #3588. Moderate weather and two-day per week irrigation restrictions helped Ridgewood Water to get through the summer with no additional water restrictions.
As a reminder, two-day per week irrigation has been made permanent, year-round, for conservation purposes. Please ensure that all irrigation complies with the following:
Odd numbered addresses on Tuesday & Saturday
Even numbered addresses on Wednesday & Sunday
No irrigation is permitted between the hours of 10:00am and 6:00pm
Automatic system use permitted only between 3:00am and 7:00am
Exemption permits are always available for smart controllers. As of September 20th, exemption permits to water new plantings for 21 consecutive days are also available. In the event that you are unable to finish all of your plantings this fall, exemption permits will also be available in the spring.

Trenton NJ, The 2% cap on the raises police and fire unions can win in arbitration saved property taxpayers nearly $3 billion and should be renewed before it expires in December, but Top Democrats in New Jersey including Phil Murphy, the party’s nominee for governor quickly rejected the idea .
A report released on Thursday concluded the law limiting the raises that police and fire unions can win in arbitration should be renewed in an effort to keep property taxes in check.
From the executive summary …. in order to enable public employers to restrain increased costs within the 2% tax levy cap, public employers needed a tool to restrain increases to police and fire salaries, especially when labor disputes are submitted to interest arbitration. The data reviewed by the Task Force confirms that the 2% cap has provided that tool. Since the inception of the law, the average annual base salary increase provided in interest arbitration awards subject to the 2% cap is 1.85%. Even in voluntary settlements to which the 2% cap does not apply, the data confirms that the cap law has had a profound effect.
Indeed, the data shows that for interest arbitration cases subject to the 2% cap settled before an interest arbitration award was issued, the average annual increase to base salary was 1.80%. These numbers are a stark contrast to the average annual increases that were reported to PERC prior to the effective date of the 2010 amendments.2 Not surprisingly, with the right reforms in place, the rate of property tax growth in New Jersey has declined significantly.
While the cap law significantly reduced the growth of labor costs, the Governor Appointees have not uncovered any evidence that these reductions have negatively impacted crime rates or the ability of public employers to recruit qualified candidates for police and fire positions. In summary, the Governor Appointees conclude that the 2010 and 2014 amendments to interest arbitration have effectively addressed the concerns that were at the heart of this bi-partisan legislation. Accordingly, its recommendations set forth herein include the permanent continuation of the most critical elements of those amendments – namely, the procedural changes requiring expeditious resolution of all interest arbitration proceedings and the 2% cap – to ensure that the progress made over the last five years is not lost. Ridgewood NJ, today is National Voter Registration Day , it is a national holiday celebrating our democracy. It was first observed in 2012 and has been growing in popularity every year since. Held on the fourth Tuesday of September, National Voter Registration Day will be observed on Tuesday, September 26th this year.
To vote in New Jersey, one must be a United States citizen and a resident of his or her county for at least 30 days prior to the election. A voter must be at least 18 years old by the time of the next election in order to register. The registration deadline occurs 21 days prior to the election.

Teenagers in America today are about three years behind their counterparts from the 1970s when it comes to taking up sex, drinking alcohol, and working for pay, researchers said Tuesday.
The findings in the journal Child Development were based on an analysis of seven large, nationally representative surveys of 8.3 million teenagers between 1976 and 2016.
The surveys sought to find out how those aged 13 to 19 spent their time, and how often they engaged in adult activities such as drinking alcohol, dating, taking jobs, driving, or having sex, said the report.
TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie’s administration is digging in on a labor dispute in which it refuses to pay public employees’ step increases after their contracts expired, despite state court rulings that have largely upheld the practice.
The administration has asked the Public Employment Relations Commission to block the union’s request to go to arbitration to argue that the state should pay their step increases.
Tens of thousands of state employees have missed one or more of these longevity pay bumps as the state froze salaries for workers whose contracts expired June 30, 2015. The state relied on a decision from PERC that upended a four-decades-old custom of step increases outliving the term of a contract.
Hetty Rosenstein, state director of the Communications Workers of America, New Jersey’s largest state employee union, said that despite a state Supreme Court ruling in August rebuking PERC, Christie’s administration is still seeking to freeze employees on the salary guide.
Washington, DC, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton made the following statement regarding today’s ruling by United States District Judge James E. Boasberg that the Department of State must make public a FBI declaration detailing its efforts to retrieve Hillary Clinton’s government emails (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. Rex Tillerson (No. 1:15-cv-00785)):
We’re happy with the ruling but it is unbelievable we’re being opposed by Trump appointees in the State and Justice Department’s on the Clinton email issue. President Trump ought to be outraged his appointees are protecting Hillary Clinton. The State Department should initiate action with the Justice Department – and both agencies should finally take the necessary steps to recover all the government emails Hillary Clinton unlawfully removed.
On April 30, 2015, Judicial Watch sued former Secretary John Kerry after the State Department failed to take action on a letter sent to Kerry “notifying him of the unlawful removal of the Clinton emails and requesting that he initiate enforcement action pursuant to the [Federal Records Act],” including working through the Attorney General to recover the emails. After initially being dismissed by the district court, Judicial Watch’s lawsuit was revived on appeal by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on December 27, 2016. The Federal Records Act states that an agency head “shall” initiate an action through the Attorney General when he becomes aware of any unlawful removal of agency records.
While at the State Department, Clinton conducted official government business using an unsecure email server and email accounts. Her top aides and advisors also used non-“state.gov” email accounts to conduct official business. Clinton left office February 1, 2013.
The Trump administration defended handling of the email matter by the Obama administration filed two declarations from the FBI trying to justify the State Department’s refusal to follow the law and refer to the Clinton email issue to the Justice Department. As the decision notes, the second FBI declaration is non-public and was filed in camera and ex parte with the court. Judge Boasburg today rejected the State Department’s arguments that the FBI declaration be withheld to protect grand jury secrecy:
After reviewing the document in camera, the Court concludes it largely rehashes information already made public, thus obviating any need for secrecy.
