Word is that layoffs are coming soon.
Break out your popcorn. It should be a real good show!
Well, someone have to pay for the parking garage shortfall.
The garage that doesn’t charge after 6pm on Saturday?
Now the supervisors are going to have to go to work.
Maybe anyone laid off can get meals from the “Feed the Frontlines” slush fund.
Where do millions of dollars of meals actually go?
do we know? how do we find out?
Shit, storm coming
So this meeting was certainly a doozy on so many levels. Can the Village seriously can justify furloughing their essential workers and service professionals who the residents rely on, all the while planning to then spend big bucks on a specialized historical consultant to work to wrangle around Schedler’s historic preservation. A few weeks ago the VC posted notifications related to interviewing an actual attorney and in fact, the person is actually a consultant who specializes in historical properties and land use rights. When you look at the list of services his firm provides, it is clear that they will look to spend precious resources and dollars to fund the #1 priority of pleasing the athletic supporters to produce a large turf field on the Schedler land, but especially in light of budget cuts, it is outrageous. This consultant specializes in “client advocacy” so it should be interesting to see how this goes but it is sad that they can justify an expenditure of this nature.
There are entirely too many parks and rec employees that do nothing! They hang out at Habernickel and text in their trucks
Will these furloughed employees be the ones responsible for setting up the outdoor dining corrals? If so, good luck.
Even if Ridgewood can overturn the historical significance of Schedler and figure out how to manipulate the property to the delight of athletic supporters everywhere, there are still many health hazards and serious safety concerns that are part of the plan to put a regulation turf field on the property. One caller from last week’s Village Council session suggested that an injunction be initiated as water supplies will be in jeopardy and this may be something residents will have to consider as things move in that direction. Why do none of the sports parents care that artificial turf fields may actually be the cause of cancer or other harmful illnesses, or that well water for residents may be affected? I believe it is time for increased messaging to the media who should be involved as the optics on this are not good and we should ensure that full transparency is in order. We understood that an attorney was being hired and now it is a consultant. Story changes every day.

The future police overtime budget will be $850k-$900k if they don’t hire replacements now, did I hear that right?
Just drove down 17 and looked over and cannot imagine this ridiculous field they want to put in and that given budget cuts that they can justify hiring an expensive consultant as mentioned at tonight’s meeting. One day, it will be like the lights of Broadway and there is also a neon Billboard (proposed by Outfront Media) that may to go up by the Tire and Wheel place across the highway on 17 South. How will that neighborhood be protected by any of this when they cut down all of the trees to build their field. All of the lights coming off of the field and the highway. What a shame. Oh that’s right…no one cares.
Nothing new with a Police budget, it’s always been close to $1 million. And not to mention the fire department overtime budget. And who gives two shits who sets up the outdoor dining call just bringing more police and fire and emergency services to do the job And the council is go to start putting the supervisors on the back of a yard waste truck. And not to mention a fit for duty physical you fail your out the door.
*You’re
No more pizza parties
No more overtime
No more paid stipends
No on call
All employees will rotate on sanitation, recycling, yard waste truck’s.
