Teaneck NJ, the township of Teaneck celebrated a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for the new $1.3 million Little League Baseball Field of Dreams at the Teaneck Southern Little League facility.
Teaneck Mayor Michael Pagan expressed gratitude for reaching this momentous occasion, stating, “Breaking ground on this project is momentous, and we appreciate the work that has led us to this point. Having a new facility is so important because all children deserve to have a safe place to play.”

The new field will feature several upgrades, including improved drainage, an LED digital scoreboard with playback options, new dugouts, fencing, backstop, foul poles, bullpens, and seating areas. Additionally, the outfield fences will be extended from 200 feet to 225 feet to accommodate tournament play.
Designed for boys and girls ages 12 and younger, the 60-foot baseline synthetic turf baseball field with a portable mound will replace the grass clay field constructed in 1952 for the “Major” division.
Financed through the Township’s capital budget and Municipal Open Space Trust Fund, the project aims to enhance recreational opportunities for the community.
Town Manager Dean Kazinci highlighted recent renovations at Hawthorne Park’s 90-foot field and outlined plans for potential future upgrades, including converting the minor league field to synthetic turf in 2025.
The contract for the project was awarded to Montville-based Athletic Fields of America, with the completion expected by late spring.
