Teaneck Nj, the online Jewish forum TeaneckShuls collected over 165 duffel bags full of items for the front lines in Israel. Based on a list of items generated by an Israeli soldier on Monday morning posted on TeaneckShuls and other social media, over $500,000 worth of items were donated. A volunteer form posted last night for packing help received over 150 requests to volunteer overnight and had to be closed!
Donations are pouring in and once received, hundreds of volunteers got to work in Care One and Ahavath Torah unpacking, sorting, counting, categorizing, photographing (for customs) and packing over 600 duffle bags! Approximately 100 bags have already been shipped and are on their way to Israel. Maybe the highlight of the day was when some chayalim arrived to a standing ovation as they packed bags to bring to their own units. The remaining 500 or so bags are being warehoused and being prepared for shipment.
According to a post, “Every single item donated and individual volunteering helped make this happen, yet sadly we know that there are more requests coming in and B”H more eager and generous people that want to help and contribute.”
“Towards that goal, we are working on putting together another drive. We are working on getting an updated list of requested items and on working out some of the logistics involved in this process. This drive will likely not take place until next week, but details will be forthcoming via Teaneck Shuls and the whatsapp group .”
