Ridgewood NJ, the Valley Hospital issued the following statement on the FDA and CDC request to “pause” the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine :
The FDA and CDC called for a pause on the use of the J&J vaccine after six of the 6.8 million people who have received the vaccine experienced severe blood clots. In accordance, Valley has temporarily stopped giving the J&J vaccine. Vaccination is continuing using the Pfizer vaccine. Valley has administered nearly 90,000 vaccines, with 5,500 being the J&J vaccine. If you received the J&J vaccine and you begin to experience abdominal pain, leg pain, shortness of breath, severe headache or other unusual symptoms within three weeks after vaccination, contact your healthcare provider. Treatment of this specific type of blood clot is different from the treatment that might typically be administered.
If you have not yet been vaccinated, we encourage you to learn more at our vaccine page at www.ValleyHealth.com/Vaccine
