Ridgewood NJ, late Friday afternoon the Village of Ridgewood announced the Zabriski-Schedler SHPO Application.
We are excited to let you know that plans for the Zabriskie-Schedler Park Project are moving forward!
Today (February 16, 2024), the Village of Ridgewood submitted an application to the State Historic Preservation Office and the Historic Sites Council regarding this long-awaited project.
The application seeks approval for a multipurpose public park to be built on the site, which is consistent with the intention of park development when the Village purchased the property in 2009. We are confident this application balances our need for additional recreational and athletic space while maintaining the historical element of the Zabriskie House.

Late Friday afternoon…why couldn’t these timorous slugs have mentioned at Wednesday’s council meeting…?
Because it is all part of the smoke show. Keep em guessing then say how transparent the weasel and the wombles are.
You always release this type of stuff “for sunshine reasons” when folks are unlikely to notice it. Holiday weekends are really good times.
Friday of a 3 day weekend
They are weak
You’re right. They never send so that we have time to read/respond, rathe the ‘weak ends’ send so we get it on weekends.
Nope.
They are smart.
We are the ones who are weak.
It’s very sneaky. I told you this will be happening like this. They don’t care about anyone.
Let us reread the mayor’s 2024 status report where he talks about transparency and communication. Where he didn’t mention one word about potential soil contamination and a mandate to do thorough soil testing based on the alleged illegal dumping that the village did nothing about. They new about it but took no action. Chris and his sidekick were involved for sure. Everybody and their brother trucked in free dirt. only some of it was tested then they blame concerned residents? An informal assessment of this around town is that it sounds borderline gross negligence. But again, not one mention in the mayor’s update on the village. That seems like a pretty large $40k oops again with tax dollars.
Where did the dirt that Jovan M’s family come from. Hes a village engineer. He allegedly had a family member truck in free dirt. This shoukd also be investigated and seems unethical.
The tree removal information is interesting and comments from the shady consultant where he asks if the trees are invasive or evasive? Seriously, we paid this guy money with our hard earned tax dollars? I am cringing reading this.
I don’t see any Stormwater Management plan anywhere in these thousands of pages. Artificial turf creates an impervious surface under the field that blocks water from soaking into the ground. Together with the roadways and parking lots, this is a HUGE impervious area — at least 4 acres. The new Stormwater Rules are serious, and require managing stormwater on -site — that is, you must do the same or better than the pre-developed condition (woods) in managing groundwater recharge, runoff quality and runoff quantity. The 100-year storm that the engineer must design for is 11.66 inches over 24 hours. That’s a LOT of water over 4+ impermeable acres. Demand answers before you fund this project. Don’t be like Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, which brought down a whole hillside.
Let’s look into this. Isn’t Pam deputy mayor the stormwater person? Inquiring minds want to know.
Of course Frank Mortimer and Rurick Hallaby giving the big thumbs up on the plan. Mortinmer is probably gearing up to run for council and may advocate to set up tax free bee hives on the property and can sell his honey right out of the historic house, because after all he is the Bee Man and loves the environment but also loves parks and recreation. I predict also that Mr. Hallaby will be hired to check for black mold once there is a certificate of occupancy and won’t have to break into the house again.
Assume he has proper permits to do this on his property, not sure what kind of licensing you need to have hives and bees and make honey. But I would assume it would have to pass certain tests and have certain licenses or permits. I guess if he runs for council then it might be worth looking into.
No more artificial turf. Stop this insanity.
