Ridgewood NJ, and OPRA request revealed that Village of Ridgewood was named as a defendant in a law suit filed by a , (hereinafter “Plaintiff) village resident who was the operator of a motor vehicle that was involved in an accident with a Village of Ridgewood sanitation truck on or about June 1, 2017 at about 5:55 am.

Discovery in the case revealed that on the date of the incident and immediately before it occurred, Plaintiff‘s vehicle was travelling eastbound on East Ridgewood Avenue and the Village of Ridgewood sanitation truck was traveling southbound on North Irving Street in the Village approaching its intersection with East Ridgewood Avenue. The sanitation truck failed to stop at the STOP sign controlling the traffic on North Irving Street. The collision between the vehicles occurred in East Ridgewood Avenue; and Plaintiff incurred serious and permanent injuries to their back.
The case was sent to mandatory arbitration at which time the arbitrator awarded the Plaintiff $250,000.00 to compensate her for her injuries that were incurred by her as a result of this accident, but after extensive discussions over the course of many months, the Plaintiff has agreed to resolve this case for Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000.00).
Was the truck driver issued a summons? Was he/she disciplined in connection with the screw up?
Most people in Ridgewood drive like selfish lunatics. Everyone needs to slow down and simply be more considerate of others.
Absolutely. But the over-sized vehicles should yield where they are supposed to. Especially when there is a small car involved. These drivers have a special license for a reason. TO DRIVE SAFELY

Drivers in Ridgewood don’t even stop for pedestrians… doesn’t surprise me vehicles don’t stop for other vehicles
All I know, is that people have become very poor drivers. Truck drivers, and busses even worse. They bully themselves by inserting where they should be yielding. I have no idea whose fault this was, but based on my experiences, the busses and Ridgewood Trucks need a little driver training.
Ridgewood Trucks…get your ‘shi* together. Are they monitored by the police? ummm….thinkin’ not!
How would police “monitor” trucks? What does “monitoring” trucks mean? Do police “monitor” other vehicles?
Somethings going on, let me tell you something they’re monitoring more than the trucks.
The best way to prevent these accidents is to monitor parking spaces and their time limits so there is no chance that someone might pull out in front of a larger vehicle. Makes sense, no?
Not necessarily this case, but just wondering: how many accidents involve new adult drivers who moved to the burbs from a city, where they had to drive more slowly and be more aggressive?
