Ridgewood NJ, May is dedicated to National Preservation Month. Also known as Historic Preservation Month, the month celebrates the nation’s heritage through historic places. Organizations across the country promote a variety of activities on the local, state and national levels.

In the Village, Zabriskie-Schedler House  restoration is finally moving along .  We must admit we had our doubts . The home has officially been added to the New Jersey Register of Historic Places. Built in 1823 by John A. L. Zabriskie, the house sits on a triangle of land between Route 17 and Saddle River Road, part of Bergen County’s dwindling stock of 19th-century Dutch wood-frame homes.  This area play a significant roll as a cross roads during  the American Revolution .

  1. spend, spend, spend, spend.

  2. What will it and the surround area be used for

  3. It will be a turf soccer field that is for practices but is actually too small to play games. Kind of a waste of space because it won’t serve the full purpose of creating another field.

  4. The site is looking nice much Better than before. I’m sure it’s gonna turn out to be a nice looking site. Just a promise maintaining it.

  5. Wait until a loose tractor trailer tire from Rt 17 kills someone… this is a complete boondoggle. First it was “do it for the eagles”. Then it’s was dump contaminated soil from Brogan Cadillac and Ken Smith Chevrolet on the site without proper remediation (sorry eagles). The house has zero historical value. This is all about Sue Knudsen who’s family property is across the street. She’s conflicted On Schedler because she accepted political donations from her father At an address directly across the street, and yet she refuses to recuse from any discussions (or spending) on Schedler. This is a pure conflict. Just like discussing the police & fire budgets and contracts.

  6. “Kind of a waste of space” Would you rather have condos?

  7. Ken Smith Chevrolet?
    Well informed I see.
You don’t even know the names of the establishments.
    Now move back to Brooklyn.

  8. Someone will be killed there when they’re struck by a flying tire from Rt. 17. And how are the eagles?

  9. Guess you are new to Ridgewood? Ken Smith Chevrolet is the site where the high density condos are being built – with this current Council’s blessing – on the northwest side of Ridgewood train station in the CBD. Don’t be nasty, especially if you are an uniformed newbie.

    1. it was a Lincoln dealer, and thanks to Paul Aronsohn and Co.

  10. This council has increased village tax rate by 2.2%. They are incharge of cutting school budget to below 2%.
What an irony. Reduce spending on education while increasing on elks and Schedler.

  11. Ken Smith Lincoln? No.
