Hackensack NJ, Hackensack Police started of the New Year, with the same violations. More expired / fraudulent handicapped tags confiscated by the Traffic Bureau and Summonses issued! The Ridgewood blog reported in December of 2017 of the crack down . Following the first of the Hackensack Police picked right up where they left off.
Interestingly a Closter, N.J. resident reported to the Ridgewood Police headquarters on January 12, to report his vehicle was burglarized and an item was stolen from within. The victim reported the theft from the vehicle occurred between October 2017 and December 2017 while the vehicle was parked at 223 North Van Dien Avenue. The stolen item was reported to be a handicap placard.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on January 12, a Tenafly, N.J. resident reported while at her place of business in the Village of Ridgewood a male party entered the business and made threats in the past. The reporting party advised the male was advised by an agent his home was being foreclosed in Glen Rock, N.J. on 1/10/18 and he came to the business on 1/12/18 and made harassing statements. The reporting party did not wish to sign a criminal complaint at this time and only requested documentation of the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on January 10, a middle school Home and School Association discovered an unknown person instructed the treasurer of the H.S.A. to wire transfer money without authorization. The H.S.A. determined the email request was a fraud, the bank was immediately notified and the wire transfer was canceled. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, On January 10, Lt. Brian Pullman conducted a motor vehicle stop on South Maple Avenue for a traffic violation. Upon further investigation a 24 year-old male from Paterson, N.J. and a 21 year-old male from Paterson, N.J. were discovered to be in possession of stolen property and arrested at the scene. Both were arrested at the scene and transported to Ridgewood Police headquarters.
The Ridgewood Detective Bureau continued the investigation and both males were charged with trafficking of personal identifying information, conspiracy to commit trafficking of personal identifying information, and receiving stolen property. One male arrestee was transported to the Bergen County Jail after the completion of the investigation and the other released on a complaint summons and released with a pending court date. Both were determined to have been mailbox phishing and stealing checks from various mailboxes within the Village of Ridgewood and other jurisdictions.
Trenton NJ, Democrat Phil Murphy ,New Jersey’s new governor says he’ll be accepting the job’s $175,000-a-year salary. Murphy a multimillionaire and former Wall Street executive who earned his fortune working at Goldman Sachs , will not match what even the failed Democrat Jon Corzine did . Corzine also a wealthy alumni of Goldman Sachs took only a $1-per-year salary.
When asked the new Governor declined Wednesday to take further questions about his salary from the media . His 2016 taxes showed he earned a mere $4.6 million, mostly from interest and dividends.

Washington DC, President Trump presented the highly-anticipated “2017 Fake News Awards” last night on twitter of coarse . The GOP website listing the Fake News Awards crashed due to overwhelming public interest .
For those of you who missed it the Ridgewood blog has rounded out the top 10 . See if any of your favorites made the list. My personal favorite grabbed the number one spot . The New York Times’ Paul Krugman who has become emblematic for why so many people look down at the profession of “economist” . Once again he made a major fool of himself and his readers . For years Krugman has been the gold standard of ,what not to do . While even a broken clock is right twice a day Krugman has managed to underperform even that sad comparison.

1. The New York Times’ Paul Krugman claimed on the day of President Trump’s historic, landslide victory that the economy would never recover.
2. ABC News’ Brian Ross CHOKES and sends markets in a downward spiral with false report.
3. CNN FALSELY reported that candidate Donald Trump and his son Donald J. Trump, Jr. had access to hacked documents from WikiLeaks.
4. TIME FALSELY reported that President Trump removed a bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. from the Oval Office.
5. Washington Post FALSELY reported the President’s massive sold-out rally in Pensacola, Florida was empty. Dishonest reporter showed picture of empty arena HOURS before crowd started pouring in.
6. CNN FALSELY edited a video to make it appear President Trump defiantly overfed fish during a visit with the Japanese prime minister. Japanese prime minister actually led the way with the feeding.
7. CNN FALSELY reported about Anthony Scaramucci’s meeting with a Russian, but retracted it due to a “significant breakdown in process.”
8. Newsweek FALSELY reported that Polish First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda did not shake President Trump’s hand.
9. CNN FALSELY reported that former FBI Director James Comey would dispute President Trump’s claim that he was told he is not under investigation.
10. The New York Times FALSELY claimed on the front page that the Trump administration had hidden a climate report.
11. And last, but not least: “RUSSIA COLLUSION!” Russian collusion is perhaps the greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people. THERE IS NO COLLUSION!
Ridgewood NJ, On Monday, Ridgewood resident Mike Winograd and his youth soccer advisor, Liam Winograd, went to ESPN FC. Winograd is currently in the running for United States Soccer Federation president.
Ahead of the United States Soccer Federation presidential election on Feb. 10, ESPN FC asked the eight candidates running to succeed Sunil Gulati to address a series of questions, in 150 or fewer words per answer.

Ridgewood NJ, at the Wednesday night Village Council Meeting ,Village of Ridgewood Mayor Susan Knudsen administered the oath of office to two (2) new Ridgewood PD Patrol Officers on Wednesday evening, 01/17 during a Public Meeting of the Ridgewood Village Council. Recent Bergen County Police Academy graduates Hector Perez and Miguel Torreslopez were officially welcomed by Mayor Knudsen and members of the Village Council during a brief ceremony.

Ridgewood NJ, councilmen Ramon Hache sums up the Valley Hospital Litigation. One of the most divisive issues we covered on the Ridgewood blog.
Councilmen Hache, “2017 may have seen the end to 8 years of litigation and 10 years of controversy that caused one of the most significant divides in the history of Ridgewood. The announcement of Valley Hospital in January 2017 to move the Hospital’s acute care in-patient facility to Paramus was the catalyst to resolving the major issues between the Hospital and the Village and anti-expansion residents.
Although never challenging Valley’s right or interest in expanding to provide 21st century healthcare, the location of the expansion at the Linwood Avenue campus and its breadth were the contentious issues that were litigated in trial in 2016. Once the Hospital’s intention to move to Paramus was made public and it filed a Certificate of Need with the State to approve such move, the parties to the litigation entered into serious and extensive settlement negotiations while the appeal of the trial decision was pending.
In October, 2017, a tentative settlement was reached which was later accepted by the Village Council in November. The settlement is based upon the hope that the Certificate of Need is granted by the State. If it is granted, the Hospital intends to keep the size of the Ridgewood facility in tact, only modifying the site for a new power plant and exhaust stack, and changing some of the heath care related services provided at the site, even possibly providing space for senior housing. A decision on the Certificate of Need from the state Department of health is expected in early 2018.”
Glen Rock NJ, A Glen Rock EMS ambulance transported one (1) victim to The Valley Hospital following a Wednesday afternoon, 01/17, two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of Ackerman Avenue and Broad Street, Glen Rock. Injuries to the victim were said to be non life threatening in nature. A flatbed tow truck removed a wrecked 4-door Toyota Corolla from the scene. The other vehicle, a pick up truck, was able to be driven away on its own power. Glen Rock Police investigated the crash.
Ridgewood NJ, This past Monday the Martin Luther King, jr. interfaith celebration was held. It was intended to be a celebration of the teachings of Dr. King and was to include Rev. Sampson, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in New York as the guest speaker, followed by an outdoor rally and a light lunch. The program was also to feature Ridgewood and Glen Rock student speakers and musical performances by the Indian Hills Chamber Choir and Men of Umoja chorus.
Much of the event was beautiful until Aronsohn and Gottheimer turned it into their own personal soapboxes.
It turned into a political rally of sorts. After Pastor Mack Brandon introduced Rep. Gottheimer and welcomed him to the podium, suddenly FORMER Mayor Aronsohn shoved his way to the front, all but pushing Gottheimer back down. Aronsohn then proceeded to give an unscheduled speech (unscheduled, but not unplanned, because he had a paper in his hand as he bulldozed his way to the altar). Following this ridiculous display, Aronsohn himself went on to welcome Gottheimer to come and speak, even though Gottheimer had already been invited to the microphone by Pastor Brandon a few minutes earlier. People were kind of shocked by Aronsohn going off-script and just inserting himself into the event. Gottheimer then proceeded to give a political rally type of speech, not one honoring Dr. King and his principles and teachings, but one that was self-promoting, all about him and his agenda.
Politicians (or wannabe politicians like Aronsohn) should be banned from speaking at such an event. It was a disgrace.
