“It’s not surprising that Josh Gottheimer continues to lie to the people of New Jersey and the media. The truth is Scott Garrett’s position has been consistent from the beginning. On Saturday, he denounced Donald Trump’s reprehensible comments and said he believes in Mike Pence. He has always believed that [Democratic nominee] Hillary Clinton is not the candidate whose leadership and policies are right for America. Donald Trump remains the nominee of the Republican Party, and Rep. Garrett has always said he will vote for the Republican Party nominee. Scott Garrett’s top priority in this election is stopping the Clinton-Gottheimer agenda of higher taxes, more wasteful spending, and weak national security policy.”
In a previous statement, Garrett said ,”Donald Trump’s comments are inexcusable. I am appalled that he would brag about violating a woman’s physical boundaries. As a husband and father of two daughters, I denounce his comments and the behavior that it incites. I believe that Mike Pence would be the best nominee for the Republican Party to defeat Hillary Clinton.”
The quote confused some , Garrett a tradition conservative, like Mike Pence and Trump being well Trump , a phenomenon . The quote gave rise to the idea that Garret may have joined some GOP turncoats , who were looking for an excuse to support Hillary Clinton . After all , if Trump gets elected the gravy train for many in Washington will ground to a halt, but Garrett’s campaign manager Sarah Neibart put that to rest , “Scott Garrett’s top priority in this election is stopping the Clinton-Gottheimer agenda of higher taxes, more wasteful spending, and weak national security policy”
Trump Continues to Close Gap in Latest Rasmussen Poll

Ridgewood NJ, Rasmussen reports in the first polls released since the debate that the race for the White House continues to tighten. According to Rasmussen Hillary Clinton still holds a four-point lead over Trump – 43% to 39% – among Likely U.S. Voters. That’s down from five points yesterday and her biggest lead ever of seven points on Monday.
Rasmussen results show , Eighty-two percent (82%) of voters now say they are sure how they will vote. Clinton holds a narrow 48% to 46% lead over Trump among these voters. On Monday, she was ahead 51% to 45% in this group. Johnson now picks up for percent (4%) support and Stein two percent (2%) among those certain of how they will vote.
Among voters who say they could still change their minds between now and Election Day, it’s Clinton 45%, Trump 28%, Johnson 23% and Stein five percent (5%).

Ridgewood NJ, more identity fraud incidents have been reported in Ridgewood . The Ridgewood Police have recently reported ;
A Cambridge Road resident responded to the Police department on October 5, 2016 to report a Theft of Identity. The victim reported she received two Chase credit cards in the mail without her authorization. The victim contacted Chase Bank and was informed someone used her personal identity and applied for the credit cards. Chase Bank cancelled the credit cards and is investigating the incident.
On October 7, 2016 a Glenwood Road resident responded to the Police Department to report Identity Theft in the past. The victim reported discovering an unauthorized credit card purchase on his Chase credit card in the amount of $1527 from Bob’s Furniture. The victim reported he was satisfied that Chase reversed the unauthorized charge and he only requested documentation of the incident.
10 Ways To Protect Yourself From Identity Theft
Shielding your private information with no risk of a breakdown may be impossible these days. But there are some simple ways to protect you from becoming a victim of Identity Theft.
Simple but very important, tips to protect you and your name.
1. Destroy private records and statements. Tear up – or, if you prefer, shred – credit cards statements, solicitations, and other documents that contain private financial information.
2. Secure your mail. Empty you mailbox quickly, lock it or get a P.O. box so criminals don’t have a chance to snatch credit card pitches. Never mail outgoing bill payments and checks from home. They can be stolen from your mailbox and the payee’s name erased with solvents. Mail them from the post office or another secure location.
3. Safeguard your Social Security number. Never carry your card with you, or any other card that may have your number, like a health insurance card. Don’t put your number on your checks. It’s the primary target for identity thieves because it gives them access to your credit report and bank accounts.
4. Don’t leave a paper trail. Never leave ATM, credit card or gas station receipts behind.
5. Never let your credit card out of your sight. Worried about credit card skimming? Always keep an eye on your card or, when that’s not possible, pay with cash.
6. Know who you’re dealing with. Whenever anyone contacts you asking for private identity or financial information, make no response other than to find out who they are, what company they represent and the reason for the call. If you think the request is legitimate, contact the company yourself and confirm what you were told before revealing any of your personal data.
7. Take your name off marketers’ hit lists. In addition to the national Do-Not-Call registry (1-888-382-1222), you can also cut down on junk mail and opt out of credit card solicitations.
8. Be more defensive with personal information. Ask salespeople and other if information such as Social Security or driver’s license number is absolutely necessary. Ask anyone who does require your Social Security number about their privacy policy and that you do not want your information given to anyone else.

Ridgewood NJ, The Village of Ridgewood became one of many Bergen County NJ communities to honor law enforcement personnel by striping a main thoroughfare with a blue colored traffic line. Ridgewood’s “blue line” is located on North Maple Avenue, between Franklin Avenue and Linwood Avenue, right in front of Village Hall and Ridgewood Police Headquarters. Village officials gathered in front of Village Hall on Tuesday, 10/11 to commemorate the event.

Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey Governor Christopher Christie attended a political fundraiser in Ridgewood on Tuesday October 11th and flew into the Village on a NJ State Police helicopter. Members of Ridgewood’s police, fire, and Emergency Services departments were on standby at the Benjamin Franklin Middle School for the early evening helicopter landing. The helicopter landed without incident; a two (2) vehicle motorcade (NJ State Police provided) subsequently transported the Governor and his party from the school to the $5,000 per attendee fundraising event, which was held at the Park West Tavern on Oak Street.
NJT TRAIN REVERSIBLE SEATS with NO LOCKING DEVICES safety needs to be questioned?

Ridgewood NJ, the issue of NJT train seating has come up. Commuters speculated that those seated in NJT Hoboken train crash likely went flying forward hitting the fixed reversed seat ahead of them or into the Aisles. The question is why are there no locking devices on these seats? Another element that is lacking is that there are also no seat belts; this might be helpful especially for children and the elderly.

One in six American malls are expected to disappear in the next decade. That’s scary news for many communities.
Visits to malls declined by 50% between 2010 and 2013, according to real estate research firm Cushman & Wakefield. Analysts expect upcoming data will show an even steeper drop in mall traffic.
Mall closures could have terrifying implications for communities, Howard Davidowitz, chairman of Davidowitz & Associates, a national retail-consulting and investment-banking firm, told Business Insider.

Simple Steps Women Can Take To Reduce The Odds Of Developing Breast Cancer

Ridgewood NJ, When it comes to breast-cancer prevention, most women are probably aware of the need for self examinations and mammograms, as well as awareness of a family history for breast cancer.
But other factors that can help women avoid breast cancer may not be as well known, or at least not as often discussed. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this might be the right time to discuss them.
“Although breast cancer is, rightfully, a significant concern, every woman should keep in mind that there are things in her control that can help reduce her odds of developing it,” says Dr. Pawan Grover (www.inovospine.net), who has treated cancer patients and has served as a medical correspondent for CNN and other news organizations.
For example, he says, it’s important to understand the effect estrogen has in increasing your risk of breast cancer – and how you might encounter estrogen more than you realize.
“What many women may not be aware of is that, because of the pesticides and hormones in our food, we are bombarded with estrogen,” Grover says.
That’s why diet, nutrition and exercise can be so important in breast-cancer prevention, he says. That may sound simple enough, but some people could be surprised at a few of the common things people routinely consume that may put women at greater risk for breast cancer.
No need to panic, though, Grover says. These items don’t need to be eliminated entirely from your diet, but a little moderation may be in order.
• Sugar. Many people already avoid sugar for other health reasons, but breast cancer could be added to the list of reasons, so it might be worthwhile to avoid or at least limit sugar intake, Grover says. Too much sugar leads to excess weight gain, and being overweight can increase the risk of breast cancer because fat cells make estrogen.
• Alcohol. Numerous studies have shown a connection between drinking alcohol and breast cancer. The more a woman drinks, the more the risk of breast cancer increases, according to the National Cancer Institute. For example, a woman who drinks more than three drinks a day is 1.5 more times likely to develop breast cancer than a woman who doesn’t drink.
• Soy. Studies have shown that soy could increase the risk of breast cancer because it can stimulate the genes that cause cancer to grow. But soy is likely not a problem if consumed in moderation. Although it’s unclear from research just how much of a concern soy should be, Grover suggests it doesn’t hurt to be cautious. “I would recommend minimizing it because there is still a question about the risk,” he says.
About 12 percent of women – or one in eight – will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime, according to Breastcancer.org. About 40,450 women in the U.S. are expected to die in 2016 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1989.
There could be several reasons for that decline, including treatment advances, early detection and more public awareness.
“Regardless of statistics, the important thing to remember is that you can take a primary role in protecting your own health,” Pawan says. “Continue to educate yourself, adopt an overall healthy lifestyle and your odds of leading a long life will definitely go up.”

How To Watch The Market In Uncertain Election Times

Ridgewood NJ, With the presidential election dominating the news cycles, many investors may be keeping an eye on the stock market as well as the voting booth as they wonder what impact the election of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump could have on their portfolios.
“Presidential elections are almost always a big part of the greater theme of markets, but in this case even more so,” says Benjamin Lupu, a Certified Financial Planner and founder of Kensington AMI (www.KensingtonAMI.com), an asset-management firm.
Lupu says it’s important to understand that how voters weigh their Election Day choices and how the market views the candidates aren’t necessarily the same thing.
As hard as it might be, he says, investors should lay aside any personal political leanings as they assess what factors might keep the market humming and what factors might upset the market – and affect their investments in the process.
“From an investment standpoint, this isn’t about being for one candidate or the other,” Lupu says. “It’s a matter of trying to gauge what the markets might do depending on different scenarios, and trying to plan and respond accordingly.”
He says factors to consider include:
• The Clinton impact. What ever opinion people may have of Clinton, she represents status quo, continuity and predictability, which markets prefer, Lupu says. Markets in general have been buoyant in recent months as a decisive win for Clinton had been the consensus expectation and has been priced into the markets. Those expectations could change quickly, though, and investors would need to consider adjustments if they do. “Harsh reality may have something to say about this before the process is over, and any reversal in the polls can greatly upset markets,” he says.
• The Trump impact. Trump is extremely popular with his populist base in the U.S., and some people would consider a Trump victory good for business. The wild card, though, is that he’s immensely unpopular in much of the rest of the world, Lupu says. If the race is seen as close, or if Trump is considered to have a strong chance of winning, global markets could react negatively, at least initially. If the odds of a Trump win appear to be improving, it might be a good idea for investors to reduce exposure, stay partially in cash and see what transpires, Lupu says.
• A general approach. Financial security in the U.S. has traditionally come from three things: sound, long-term process; clear, unemotional thinking; and American optimism, Lupu says. “I like to say keep it clean, be disciplined and have faith in the future,” he says. In this case, that means be aware of market expectations, follow what happens, but stay focused and make prudent decisions based on facts and not emotions – or personal political preferences.
In any other presidential election year, Lupu says, he wouldn’t advocate keeping such a close watch on who’s ahead in the polls and the implications behind the poll numbers. But Clinton vs. Trump is far from the typical race.
“I admit this is not the usual playbook for election years,” Lupu says. “But then, this election is not the usual affair.”

How Julian Assange Turned WikiLeaks Into Trump’s Best Friend

Julian Assange is 45 years old and, if an old online dating profile is to be believed, roughly 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He has soft features, prematurely silver hair, and skin that seems to border on translucent. This undercooked appearance is the result of more than four years of self-imposed confinement in a tiny bedroom in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. He has little access to sunlight, few in-person companions—or really much of anything going on, except what’s on the internet.
The founder of the online publishing platform WikiLeaks was the world’s best-known activist hacker when he walked into the modest row house in 2012, applying for humanitarian asylum rather than face questioning in Sweden over accusations of rape and sexual molestation. He claimed the case had been ginned up by the U.S., which, he believes, has been secretly trying to have him extradited for much of the past decade. The U.S. opened a criminal investigation into WikiLeaks after the organization published hundreds of thousands of leaked State Department cables in 2010. Although he has not been formally charged, Assange has often implied—without much hard evidence—that the U.S. would gladly try to assassinate him.
So it wasn’t entirely surprising last week when, on the occasion of WikiLeaks’s 10-year anniversary, Assange abruptly cancelled a planned appearance on the embassy’s balcony, citing security concerns. Instead he opted to appear, Oz-like, via video at a heavily hyped press conference held in Berlin. The Oct. 4 event had been announced for the Volksbühne, a grand old playhouse that seats 800, but when guests began showing up just before 10 a.m., the entrance was locked.

Gottheimer with help from the National Association of Realtors Congressional Fund push for more bank bailouts

Ridgewood NJ, Josh Gottheimer has picked up the support of another special interest looking to scam the US taxpayer out of more money. Gottheimer and his “Bailout Nation” are getting help from the National Association of Realtors Congressional Fund which is looking to spend $1.3 million supporting Gottheimer, including $146,000 for online ads, $529,000 for mailings and $590,000 for TV ads .
Congressmen Scott Garrett in an effort to end bank bailouts crossed the Realtors group by pushing a bill in 2013 that would have scaled back the role of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-backed agencies that buy mortgages from lenders.
The bill, known as the PATH Act, (Protecting American Taxpayers and Homeowners), would have ended the government guarantee that stands behind mortgage-backed securities issued by Fannie and Freddie and relieve taxpayers of the burden of among other things of bailing out subprime mortgages issued by banks.
In 2013 Garret called the PATH Act a bill that would create a sustainable housing finance system, saying, “Approximately five years ago our nation was hit with an unprecedented financial crisis. Today, I am pleased to be introducing legislation that continues the process of addressing the core cause of it—the government’s misguided efforts at allocating mortgage credit through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
“The federal government’s domination of the housing finance market has left taxpayers on the hook for $5.1 trillion in mortgage guarantees. The PATH Act finally takes control away from Washington bureaucrats and allows the American people the freedom to have more choices in determining which mortgage best suits their needs.
“The PATH Act will finally end the largest bailout in history and will put our country back on a path to a sustainable housing finance market that benefits both taxpayers and homebuyers. I urge its swift passage by Congress and look forward to it being signed by the President.”
