Ramsey NJ, Ramsey police are urging citizens to not openly use their cellphones or tablets while walking or sitting in their cars after dark following a series of street robberies and attempts the past two weeks.
The first robbery occurred when two robbers swiped a cellphone from a woman at the corner of Island Avenue and Washington Drive around 11-11:30 p.m. on July 25th.
The second victim was struck several times in the face and head with a handgun as he used an iPad while parked in the driveway of his East Crescent Avenue home around the same time of day on Aug. 2nd.
The third robbery occurred on August 11th , the victims were Juveniles using their cell phones walking south on Hart Street.
All of the robbers were described as apparently in their 20s, with slender and medium builds.All wore dark clothing as well as black baseball caps with the letter “A” in script.
“It is obvious that the [robbers] are targeting victims that they are using cell phones, or other information technology devices,” the chief said. “If you have children, please advise them of this warning if they are out at night.” said Ramsey’s Police Chief Gurney.
Chief Gurney has asked citizens to “remain vigilant and report any sort of suspicious activity” immediately to his department: (201) 327-2400.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital has informed us that we missed “World Cat Day!”
We missed it! It was Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, but cat-owners will tell you that every day is World Cat Day anyway. We all know the world revolves around them, and they probably introduced this day to us. Humans domesticated animals such as dogs, cows, and horses. Cats moved in and domesticated themselves, at first by creating a win-win situation and taking care of the mice that invaded early man’s feed for farm animals. Before long, they realized the comforts of home and moved in, often assuming the position of head of the household. As they say, “Dogs have masters; cats have staff.” So hug your cat today, and enjoy your status as the Egyptians did – after all, they worshipped cats and wrote about them on walls (think Facebook).
Is everything in this town controversial? People are complaining about every move that the village makes. Moving the podium used for comments at council meetings to the side of the room. – horrors!
And turning in neighbors for sidewalk bumps and lawn watering. Some do not want dogs (cats, rabbits, deer?) urinating on the grass in front of their homes. I think they would prefer doggie diapers!
Why is everyone so mad at everyone else? What has happened to us?
The county poaches all the best students for an elite education, stripping the local district, charging the sending district and the county taxpayers for the education. If a student and family wants an elite school for their kids, let them pay for it – full boat. Otherwise, vouchers for all kids. It’s a scam the county has played since the late school power broker John Grieco concocted. You may want to notice that they have no mandate to accept any special needs students like the local district – just an observation.
Ridgewood NJ, Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld said the council was given packets about the 2015 Schedler grant, which includes information from the October and November meetings, updated and complete grant application and responses from the county.
The village submitted a request for a $59,200 grant for Memorial Park and Van Neste Square, which would be used to replace brick pavers with decorative concrete sidewalk, remove aerial electric fixtures with underground electric, install new fencing, among other ideas. Sonenfeld said a finalized plan will be made public closer to the Sept. 14 public meeting.
Is there no tradition left in Ridgewood. When will it stop?
Now they want to remove the decorative brick many of which have names of family (Grandparents, parents children and in memorial of deceased family members any yes and maybe beloved pets) Why? Because we can apply for a grant? At last night meeting the VM said we would relocate them. Where? I know that the VM stated that a plan will be made public at the Sept. 14 meeting but will this be another case that it a done deal before the public has a chance to voice the opinion. They want to use concrete. We all know what happens to concrete that is put down around trees. Just look at the CBD sidewalk cracks not to mention that digging around the trees may kill them. Try going to the engineering dept to get a permit for a brick patio. They will tell you that anything over 12 x 12 feet will need a seepage pit. More digging. So will we hear next that the monument need to be moved? Just upgrade the electric put in a new fence and reset the brick and leave them alone.
I am still not clear as to where the hundreds of commemorative bricks will be moved to following the proposed “revival” of Van Neste Memorial Park.
If, as the Village Manager stated on August 3, “all of the the existing brick pavers will be removed and replaced with decorative concrete sidewalks,” what area will be left to install the displaced commemorative bricks without having to disturb grass or shrubbery?
Also, what will happen to the large commemorative markers associated with the 1995 restoration project? And what about the thousands (literally) of unmarked bricks; what will become of them?
The walking paths within the park currently appear to be in excellent shape. Therefore, I question the need to spend money (grant money still comes from taxes) to fix something that is not broken, and displace history in the process.
After disappearing for a couple of weeks, the hacker “Guccifer 2.0” returned late this afternoon to provide a new headache for Democrats.
In a post to his WordPress blog, the vandal–who previously provided nearly 20,000 Democratic National Committee e-mails to Wikileaks–uploaded an Excel file that includes the cell phone numbers and private e-mail addresses of nearly every Democratic member of the House of Representatives.
The Excel file also includes similar contact information for hundreds of congressional staff members (chiefs of staff, press secretaries, legislative directors, schedulers) and campaign personnel.
In announcing the leak of the document, “Guccifer 2.0” reported that the spreadsheet was stolen during a hack of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “As you see I wasn’t wasting my time! It was even easier than in the case of the DNC breach,” the hacker wrote.

Precautionary/preparedness actions – Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours.
An Excessive Heat Watch means that the combination of heat and humidity could create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible…reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk. Homes without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures.
Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that has air conditioning. Check on vulnerable friends…family members and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by Heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency…call 9 1 1.

(CNN)A top aide to Hillary Clinton at the State Department traveled to New York to interview job candidates for a top job at the Clinton Foundation, a CNN investigation has found.
The fact that the aide, Cheryl Mills, was taking part in such a high level task for the Clinton foundation while also working as chief of staff for the secretary of state raises new questions about the blurred lines that have dogged the Clintons in recent years.
Upon entering office as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation agreed to a set of rules to ensure any activities by the foundation would not “create conflicts or the appearance of conflicts for Senator Clinton as Secretary of State.”
On June 19, 2012, Mills, then the chief of staff for Clinton at the State Department, boarded a New York City-bound Amtrak train in Washington’s Union station.

My dad always told me that conservative candidates have to work twice as hard as their liberal opponents to win elections because they’re fighting two opponents: the Democratic Party and the media.
The usual suspects from left-leaning major media outlets like The New York Times, MSNBC, CNN and even entertainment networks are doing everything in their power to ensure a Clinton victory. Look no further than to Wolf Blitzermincing around and drinking wine at the Democratic convention, celebrating Hillary’s nomination. But the propaganda skewing this election runs much deeper than just the media: our iPhones, iPads, social media networks, Google and even video games are all in the tank for Hillary Clinton—and it’s chilling.
I began looking into how strong the bias and censorship runs in these forums after I did an interview on the pro-Trump podcast, MAGA. The show’s host, Mark Hammond, was disappointed Apple wouldn’t run his show without an “explicit” warning. Hammond’s podcast didn’t contain content that would be deemed explicit under Apple’s policy, and most other shows in the News & Politics category aren’t labeled as such.

Bergenfield NJ, Rep. Scott Garrett (NJ-05) today called on Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Regional Administrator Les Fiorenzo to address the concerns brought up by local officials and emergency management coordinators at a July 25th forum held by the Congressman in Bergenfield. With oil trains travelling in areas of Bergen County, Rep. Garrett has led numerous efforts to ensure that residents know that their families and their property are safe when a freight train travels through our communities.
Rep. Garrett brought in high-ranking federal regulators and representatives from the rail industry so local elected officials and emergency management coordinators could hear directly from them about efforts to ensure the safe movement of goods on our nation’s rail network. The forum included presentations from FRA Regional Director Fiorenzo and CSX representatives to explain the resources available in New Jersey communities, such as crisis management exercises and emergency management coordinator training.
Local officials were also given an opportunity to express concerns directly to the FRA Regional Administrator—the federal regulator directly overseeing northern New Jersey. Some of those concerns have already been remedied or moved to the top of the FRA’s priority list thanks to the discussion at the forum. The goal of the forum was to create an open and transparent line of communication between federal and local officials.
Today, Garrett is following-up to get answers from the FRA on five specific concerns that were brought up during the forum:
Concerns regarding idling trains in residential areas and the security of these trains;
Obstructed grade crossing sightlines due to overgrown vegetation;
Requirements and the processes for establishing quiet zones in residential communities;
Reports of grade crossing malfunctions; and
The damaged railroad crossing on Broadway Avenue in Norwood.
Why would the former council members, who were defeated resoundingly, come to the meetings to attempt to advance their failed agendas? Are they just spiteful? Do they need to grow up?
Clearly, this was an attempt on Ms. Winograd’s part to generate a newspaper headline that the current Council was seeking to limit public comment.
According to the Ridgewood News which slept through the entire election Winograd was “compelled” to speak looking “to relieve the contentious energy that has been brewing for months”. The “contentious” energy was voted out of office and their agenda was resoundingly rejected . Perhaps if the Ridgewood News would have posted a few per election letters to the editor they would know that.
Once again Paul Aronsohn and the “3 amigos” show a limited understanding of Ridgewood and how things work. Hint : its considered very low class and disrespectful for failed council members to attempt to undermine the new far better ,more open , independent thinking council.
Ridgewood NJ, in Newsweek’s annual ranking of public high schools 51 in N.J. made the cut. Noticeable absent was Ridgewood High School and Tenafly High School.
Ridgewood’s slip has not gone unnoticed, as many long time residents have commented ,” Years ago it was ranked highly in the nation. It fell from that to being ranked highly in the state, then down to County level and now basically is ranked no where. ”
Newsweek looked at six measurements and weighted them to come up with a “college readiness index.” The rankings are meant to show how well high schools do at preparing students for college.
