I love dogs more than people. And I say no.

We have eliminated large swaths of wooded areas. When I was a kid, about 100 years ago, my dog ran free with me. Didn’t bother anyone. Now with our limited parks, they should be saved for walkers and kids playing games, etc. But maybe we could have one park for dogs and their owners. Not all of them.

But really let’s save the parks for walkers and runners who want to exercise without stress and enjoy the parks without worry about dogs approaching them.

I mean even crossing a street is stressful now with all the traffic and the way people drive. . It is imperative to keep the parks dog free. Dogs do run up to strangers, or walk up to sniff and it is stressful. Parks are for people to enjoy. People need some place to walk without worry about cars or dogs.

I love it when I have the opportunity to babysit a family dog; I even feel sorry that the dog can’t run and explore in a park; but people come first. Again, maybe one park. Maybe not.

Most needed items are shampoos, conditioners, razors, body wash, toothpaste and any brand of detergent.

No, let’s NOT give up a park to dogs! Imagine how well that would turn out! Our parks are for people. They have already been given up to sports diamonds and fields and fences, and when that particular sport isn’t in season, the place is a waste. Speaking of waste, what would be the criterion indicating that such an experiment had failed? Lawsuits from dog bites (inevitable)? Dog litter all over the place (laughably inevitable)? Are we really expecting any follow-up at all from the town for this when we get it for nothing else? People who merely felt intimidated or uncomfortable or allergic regarding the omnipresence of canines would not complain, but probably just stop going to the park. Is that fair? Dog owners are not uniformly respectful of other people and do not consistently keep their dogs in tow. I would hate being sniffed at, run after, leg-humped, and slobbered on or to watch it happen to others, or to have to extricate myself from a long leash–that happens already. Dogs smell, shed, and trail menstrual blood. And bark. Sorry, people, dogs are not people! Some towns may allow this, but plenty forbid dogs in parks. If we changed our ordinance, people from those towns would all come here with their dogs! This is NOT far fetched (to coin a phrase).When a reasonable ordinance is not respected, you don’t rewrite the ordinance–you enforce it. That’s the real answer: give tickets to dog owners outside the dog runs, which they are lucky to have. NO DOGS.

The reality is that there are dogs in all the town parks every day, ordinance notwithstanding. Look at Habernickel, dogs run up there on and off leash. People walk their dogs through Van Neste and people congregate at Brookside field to let their dogs run loose and at any given ball game parents are on the sidelines with the family dogs. The ordinance is completely ignored just like so many of the stupid laws that exist in this town. No need to change the ordinance, just keep bringing your dogs like you already are doing only please remember to clean up after them. And oh by the way throw away your soda cans and candy wrappers in garbage cans while you are at it.

Section 2 speaks to field trip visits.  The details of these are in the separately attached bus report.

The third section details capital investments that Health Barn has made at Habernickel.  Health Barn has already exceeded its $60,000 capital commitment.

The fourth section lists other community outreach, partnerships and sponsorships.

And, finally the fifth section speaks to any relevant issues.

Reader says It is Time for Ridgewood to Appeal the Valley Ruling

Appeal, yes, but the town may also wish to obtain a stay the part of the ruling that requires the Council to adopt the specified ordinance. The latter is no mean feat. Final judgments and orders from New Jersey Superior Court trial court judges are extremely difficult to “dislodge”. Appellate Division judges have to practically be charmed to within an inch of their lives before agreeing to block implementation of a trial court’s judgment pending final appellate disposition. The whole system is more or less designed to front load power at the trial court level rather than at the apellate level. Hard to see why things must be arranged this way but thems the facts and Ridgewood must deal with them squarely.

A video filmed in the aftermath of a deadly attack on police officers in Dallas appears to show protesters dancing in a parking lot.

Five officers died and several more were wounded when gunfire erupted at a Black Lives Matter protest on Thursday night.

Hundreds of people packed into a 7-Eleven parking lot at Griffin and San Jacinto streets as police pushed the crowd away from the chaos of the crime scene, WFAA reports.

Police say officers have been targeted in Tennessee, Georgia and Missouri in the aftermath of two high-profile killings of black men by law enforcement.

The attack in Tennessee occurred hours before the killing of five police officers in Dallas on Thursday night during a protest. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the attacker told authorities that he was frustrated by the recent killings by police of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota.

Police have not disclosed a motive in Friday’s attacks in Georgia and Missouri, which have been described as ambushes.

In a fourth attack early Friday, a motorist fired at a police car as the officer drove by. In all, four officers were wounded. The officer wounded outside St. Louis is in critical but stable condition. The wounded officers are expected to survive.

Border Patrol Agent: US Government ‘Completing The Smuggling Cycle’ For Illegals

Houston, Texas (CBS HOUSTON) — A U.S. Border Patrol agent says that the federal government is “completing the smuggling cycle” by bringing unaccompanied minors into the country “for free.”

Speaking with Fox News on Thursday, Border Patrol agent Hector Garza said that the U.S. government’s complicity with allowing tens of thousands of unaccompanied illegal immigrant children into the country is finishing the smuggling process for criminal enterprises bringing the children up from Central America and Mexico.

Newly unearthed photos of President Obama in Muslim garb underscore his deep ties to the faith — and possibly help explain his reluctance to call out radical Islam, Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly said Wednesday.

The photos, aired on “The O’Reilly Factor,” were taken at the wedding of Obama’s half-brother, Malik Obama, in Maryland sometime in the early 1990s, O’Reilly said. They were not offered as evidence that Obama is Muslim, as some of his critics insist, but to show his “deep emotional ties” to the religion of his father and stepfather, O’Reilly said.

2 Snipers Ambush, Kill 5 Officers, Injure 7 in Dallas Following Peaceful Protest

Five officers are dead — four Dallas police officers and one Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer — after two snipers ambushed and opened fire on police at the end of a peaceful protest against nationwide officer-involved shootings Thursday night, officials say.

“This is a terrible blow to the city of Dallas. This is a terrible blow to the United States of America,” Rawlings said on the NBC’s “Today” show.

Rawlings said the suspect involved in an overnight standoff with police died after officers used explosives to “blast him out.”

Rawlings said he was not sure how the suspect died or what weapons were found on him. He said police have swept the area where the standoff took place and found no explosives.
