PATH Debuts 9-Car Service on the Newark-World Trade Center Line

Trwill take the first step tomorrow in a planned major expansion of PATH service along the Newark-World Trade Center line. On Thursday, March 23, PATH will operate 9-car trains on the NWK-WTC line for the first time in its 100-year history.

Customers who prefer to use cash or don’t have a debit or credit card can now take advantage of all of the benefits of the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App with the new Cash in App feature. Customers can utilize more than 1,000 convenient participating network retailers in New Jersey like 7-Eleven, Walgreens, CVS, Family Dollar and more to convert cash directly to digital balances in the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App which can then be used to purchase electronic NJ TRANSIT tickets and passes.

Newark NJ, after completing a recent tour of duty, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Candia stowed his uniform and prepared to head home from District 2. Remaining alert, Candia visually scanned the concourse as he moved through Newark Penn Station. Candia spotted and immediately recognized a man who was wanted for domestic violence by Newark Police.

Newark Penn Station To Get Major Air Conditioning System Upgrade

Newark NJ,  NJ TRANSIT is taking steps toward enhancing Newark Penn Station by making key upgrades to the station’s air conditioning system. NJ TRANSIT’s Board of Directors has approved a contract to replace two chillers and two cooling towers, which will provide reliable cooling for the foreseeable future. Chillers at this station provide air conditioning for all interior spaces, including electrical equipment rooms necessary for station operations.

North Bergen NJ, in April 2022, multiple unoccupied NJ TRANSIT buses were deliberately damaged or destroyed by fire. The buses were located on NJ TRANSIT property in Hudson County. This crime saw much media attention due in part to the overwhelming damage, scale of the scene, and significant fire. ⁣

New Jersey Transit Police apprehend man concealing handgun receiver and magazine during patrol ⁣

Newark NJ, during an evening patrol on January 19th, Officer Candia and Officer Hollis observed a seated subject who was smoking on the platform at Newark Penn Station. As the subject rose to accept a smoking summons, the officers observed a visible handgun magazine. Believing the subject to then be armed, the officers investigated further and found that the subject was illegally concealing a handgun receiver and narcotics. The subject was arrested.⁣

NJ TRANSIT is Expanding its Student Pass Fare Option to Include Eligible Part-time Students

Starting in February, the Popular “Buy 3 Months, Get 1 Month Free” Student Pass Promotion Welcomes Full-Time and Eligible Part-Time Students Back for Spring 2023 Semester

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is expanding its Student Pass fare option in a pilot program to include eligible part-time students.  For the first time, beginning with February passes, in addition to full-time students, part-time degree-seeking students taking at least two courses will also be eligible for the Student Pass fare, which provides a 25-percent discount off the already discounted monthly pass at participating regional colleges and universities when purchased on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app.  In addition, all students utilizing the Student Pass can save big during the spring semester thanks to the return of the “Buy 3 Months, Get 1 Month Free” Student Pass promotion. This cost-saving program is back by popular demand beginning with February passes for college students traveling to and from campuses for the Spring semester.

New York’s Population Continues to Decline

New York NY, the latest US Census estimate of the state population, New York  is down more than 2.1% from the 2020 Census number, which is also a bigger drop than any other state over that time. Eighteen other states have seen their populations decline since 2020, including four other Northeast states: Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
