The novel coronavirus pandemic presents an opportunity for malicious actors to conduct spearphishing campaigns, financial scams, and disinformation campaigns via social media to collect sensitive information, steal money via fake donation websites, spread false information, and deliver malware to victims.
Several spearphishing campaigns since January have falsely represented various healthcare organizations, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization. In many cases, victims receive coronavirus-themed emails requesting the victim to open an attachment or click on a link to obtain details about the coronavirus. Once a victim clicks on the attachment or link, they are directed to a malicious website requesting the victim to enter login credentials.

Montvale NJ, The fear of coronavirus is severely impacting the U.S. blood supply as Vitalant and other blood centers across the country are struggling to maintain stable inventories and avoid a critical blood shortage. With school closures and business shutdowns, 25% of Vitalant’s blood collections anticipated in March have disappeared—almost overnight. And that number continues to grow.
“We need people to start turning out in force to give blood,” said Peter Marks, M.D., Ph.D., director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (the agency that regulates all U.S. blood centers). “We need it not to get to the point that surgeries are having to get canceled.”

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco today rescinded his Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency in the County at the request of the Governor. The County Executive will hold a news conference today – March 19 – at 5:30 p.m. at Two Bergen County Plaza to discuss these recent developments and the next steps he will be taking to protect the residents, visitors and workers of Bergen County.
Tedesco said on Wednesday that he submitted the revised executive order to the Governor for review. During his daily briefing on Tuesday, Murphy appealed to county and local governments to coordinate with the state. “We will override local and county actions to make sure we are consistent in our approach,” Murphy said.

WASHINGTON DC, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson, in consultation with the Trump Administration and the Coronavirus Task Force, today authorized the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to implement an immediate foreclosure and eviction moratorium for single family homeowners with FHA-insured mortgages for the next 60 days. Ridgewood NJ, according to the latest Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security email a new poll found that nearly 1 in 5 of US workers have either lost their jobs or work reduced hours as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic in the United States. The poll—conducted by NPR, PBS News Hour, and Marist Poll—asked respondents a broad scope of questions, including perceptions of the President and state governments and their handling of the coronavirus response and the impact of the pandemic. In total, 18% of respondents have been fired or had their hours reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, this impact was greater in respondents earning less than $50,000 per year (25%) and those living in small cities or suburban areas (23%). The survey was conducted March 13-14, so it does not account for the spate of recent increases in social distancing across the country, including school closures, limiting restaurants to takeout or delivery, or the shelter in place order in the San Francisco Bay area.

Waters being stocked this week are open to angling; for waters under General Trout Regulation anglers can harvest up to 4 trout each day (minimum size 9”). Within designated Trout Conservation Areas anglers can harvest only one trout at least 15” in length.
