Ridgewood NJ, Goldman Chief Economist Jan Hatzius and his team found that the link between face masks and COVID-19 health and economic outcomes is significant. According to a Goldman Sachs note a national mandate to wear face masks could save the U.S. economy from additional lockdowns that would knock 5% off of GDP. ( https://seekingalpha.com/news/3587302-national-mask-mandate-save-gdp-from-5-cut-goldman-says )

CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
Cloth face coverings may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.
Cloth face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings.
Cloth face coverings should NOT be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

US COVID-19 incidence continues to increase, coinciding with states’ efforts to resume normal activities, but US COVID-19 deaths have steadily decreased

Pandemic vs Epidemicin post

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, The US COVID-19 incidence continues to increase, since early June, coinciding with states’ efforts to relax social distancing and resume normal activities, but US COVID-19 deaths have steadily decreased since mid-April. One potential explanation for these differing trends is a shift in age distribution of COVID-19 patients toward younger age groups. Several states that are currently reporting surges in COVID-19 incidence—including Arizona, California, Florida, Texas, and Washington—have exhibited an increasing proportion of cases among younger adults (eg, in their 20s and 30s). A number of factors are likely contributing to this trend. One possible driver is increased social interaction following the relaxation of social distancing restrictions, which has been observed among younger individuals who are at lower risk of severe disease and death.

“River Vale NJ, Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi commented on the ticketing of peaceful protesters Last Saturday Jennifer Rogers, a small business owner held a peaceful rally in Randolph, NJ to call attention to the plight of small business owners struggling to survive as a result of Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders keeping businesses shut indefinitely with no guidance. Friday, Jennifer Rogers received two summonses carrying significant fines against her for organizing the peaceful rally just one week ago. The summonses were for violating Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders by organizing the protest.Guess who today violated his own Executive Orders just several towns away? Yup, Governor Murphy, who proudly marched in several protests while blatantly ignoring his own social distancing requirements. While the two types of protests are admittedly very different in content, not only is it hypocritical but It is also unconstitutional to fine one protest over another based upon content.”
