COVID CONCERNS DECLINE IN NEW JERSEY

West Long Branch NJ,  Support for face mask and social distancing guidelines in New Jersey has dropped significantly since the fall. Less than half of the state supports workplace vaccine mandates according to the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll. Concern about Covid illness is at an all-time low as many report having been infected with the virus themselves. The poll also finds New Jerseyans give good grades to the governor and the state as a whole for handling the pandemic.

Pandemic Unemployment Benefits Fraud Could Be Over $163 Billion With Only 1% Recovered

Washington DC, GOP members of the House Ways & Means Committee (with the help of agency Inspector Generals), released their findings which discovered that in the unemployment benefit program, only $1 billion (out of up to $163 billion in fraud) has thus far been recovered. So 99.1% of fraudsters got away with it.

Governor Murphy Makes it Official Signs Executive Order Ending COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

Monday’s case total was the lowest so far since the first known case of the omicron variant was reported in New Jersey on Dec. 3. Canadian truckers have been protesting COVID-19 vaccine mandates since late last month

Ottawa Canada, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared a national emergency over ongoing trucker protests, allowing the nation’s government to temporarily override civil rights, “The scope of these measures will be time-limited, geographically targeted, as well as reasonable and proportionate to the threats they are meant to address,” Trudeau said at a press conference on Monday. The far-reaching Emergencies Act gives the Canadian government the ability to prohibit public assembly, restrict travel, and force businesses  such as towing companies to act, with compensation.

People who receive SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations during pregnancy pass along more durable antibodies to their newborns than do unvaccinated individuals who had COVID-19 during pregnancy, according to a research letter published February 7 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The small study examined only  77 vaccinated pregnant women who completed their 2-dose mRNA vaccine series between weeks 20 and 32 of gestation and 12 women who had symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy.

Ottawa, Canada, thousands of Canadian truckers and other protesters made their way to Ottawa on January 29 as part of a so-called “Freedom Convoy” to protest vaccine mandates and other public health measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. The rally originated in British Columbia the week prior and consisted of trucks and their supporters driving across the country to the nation’s capital. The original goal of the rally was to protest a mandate put in place on January 15 that required all unvaccinated cross-border truckers to quarantine upon returning home, but the message has since shifted to a general condemnation of all public health interventions. Media reported that people and vehicles clogged the streets of Ottawa making noise and bringing the city to a standstill, but the rally was “mostly peaceful”.
