BAXTER of Bronx, NY on charges of sexual assault, attempted aggravated sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck; the Garfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Uram; and The Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Andrew McGurr.

UPDATE: Pedestrian Fatally Struck by NJ Transit Train in Garfield

Garfield NJ, in a tragic incident on Wednesday afternoon, a pedestrian was struck and fatally injured by a NJ Transit train in Garfield. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Plauderville Station, close to Van Winkle Avenue, according to an agency spokesperson. The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.

Garfield Garage Fire Under Investigation

Garfield NJ, just before 0945 hours this morning, Garfield Fire Department was alerted to a possible garage fire on Market St. Deputy 1 (Chief Colon) arrived first on scene and confirmed a second alarm upon arrival. Engine 5 arrived first due and began attacking the fire. Engine 5 was quickly joined by the other fire companies to extinguish the fire. Several Mutual Aid towns responded to assist on scene and provide City coverage. The Garfield Fire Prevention Bureau is conducting and investigation into the fire.

Man Stabbed Near JoJo’s Bar & Grill Early Sunday Morning in Garfield

Garfield NJ, in the early hours of Sunday morning, Garfield police discovered a man stabbed in the vicinity of JoJo’s Bar & Grill, as reported by authorities. Responding to the incident at 131 Monroe St. around 12:45 a.m., police found a 31-year-old male with apparent stab wounds to his torso. Subsequently, the victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. A collaborative investigation is currently underway, led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department.
