Landscaper Stumbles on Highly Intoxicated Passed out Women in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, on Friday July 23rd at 5:01 PM a landscaping contractor reported to Glen Rock Police finding a woman passed out on the 400 block of Grove Street. Glen Rock and Ridgewood Police officers located the subject, a 58-year-old homeless woman, in a highly intoxicated state.  She was transported by ambulance to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for detox.

An 11-year-old Boy on a Bicycle Hit by A Car Attempting to Cross Rutland Road in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police report on Friday July 23rd at 1:19 PM , an 11-year-old boy with a bicycle was attempting to cross Rutland Road at Doremus Avenue in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. The boy was not seriously injured, and his parent refused medical aid. An officer who was nearby and witnessed the boy being struck issued a summons to the operator of the vehicle, a 76-year-old Hawthorne man, for failing to stop for a pedestrian.

Glen Rock Announces Major Repaving of the Boulevard Beginning July 30th

Glen Rock NJ,  the Boulevard resurfacing phase II  is set to begin this Friday. Please read and plan to take alternate routes in advance. On Friday  July 30th ADA compliant ramps will be installed at various intersections. On Wednesday August 4th the final phase of milling and paving the Boulevard will begin. All work should conclude by Friday August 6th .

Glen Rock NJ, The Glen Rock Police Department is investigating two large shoplifting’s that occurred on July 10 and July 15, 2021 at our Bottle King liquor store. We are attempting to identify the attached black male suspect who fled the area in a 2019 gray Nissan Sentra. He was wearing a black Lacoste hat, glasses, chain, black t-shirt, black shorts and black/white sneakers and appears to have tattoos on both of his arms. The male was accompanied by a heavyset black female. We believe the suspect hails from the Newburgh, NY area. Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to contact D/Sgt James Calaski of the Glen Rock Police Department at 201-670-3948 or [email protected].

Road Rage Incident Leads to Hit and Run, Driver Alleges Assault After He is Located in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, on Sunday July 18th at 12:39 PM , while investigating a report of vehicles blocking traffic at the intersection of Rock Road and Marlboro Road, Glen Rock Special Officer James Harte came across a road rage incident which had just occurred.  A 21-year-old Saddle Brooke man reported that he was attempting to park his vehicle when the driver of a white pickup truck damaged his vehicle and assaulted him. The pickup truck had left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.

Multiple Police Agencies Respond to Threat at Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s Glen Rock Office

Glen Rock NJ, on Thursday July 15th at 9:26 AM ,Glen Rock Police report that the staff at Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s Glen Rock office received a phone call informing them that a man who had the potential to become violent was on the way to their office.  Additional information was developed that the man was aggrieved over the lack of responsiveness he felt he was receiving from various governmental agencies in response to a complaint he had made.  He was coming to the congressman’s office to seek his assistance and informed an associate that they should call the police as he did not know what he was going to do if the congressman could not help him, alluding to potential violence.

Stolen Unlocked Car in Glen Rock Located in Paterson

Glen Rock NJ, on Monday July 12th at  05:48 AM a Southboro Lane resident reported to Glen Rock Police that their 2013 Honda Civic had been stolen from their driveway overnight. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys in it. The resident also reported that $9,000 worth of golf equipment and a laptop computer in the vehicle along with $218,000 worth of orthopedic instruments and implants associated with the resident’s employment, had been in the vehicle when it was taken.

Hoboken Bound Service on NJ Transit’s Bergen Line was Temporarily Suspended on Tuesday Afternoon Due to Downed Tree

Glen Rock NJ, Hoboken bound train service on NJ Transit’s Bergen Line was suspended briefly on Tuesday afternoon, 7/20, due to a downed tree limb blocking a track in Glen Rock. The limb fell from a tree located behind a home in the 100 block of Glen Ave shortly before 1 PM. A nearby homeowner notified Glen Rock Police, they in turn notified NJ Transit. A maintenance of way crew responded quickly and removed the blockage using chain saws. Full train service was restored by 1:30 PM. No injuries were reported.

Glen Rock Starbucks Manager Reports Being Threatened by an Apparent Homeless Person

Glen Rock NJ, on Sunday the 11th at 1:57 PM , according to Glen Rock Police the manager of Starbucks in the Rock Road Central Business District reported being threatened by an apparent homeless man he found climbing on the store’s garbage dumpster. An officer located the subject at Boulevard and Kenmore a short time later. The man, who confirmed having no current address, denied that he threatened anyone and claimed that he had been harassed. The matter was documented should either individual desire to sign complaints. No unlawful conduct was witnessed by the responding officers.

Retired Glen Rock Borough Administrator Bob Freudenrich Has Died

Glen Rock NJ, “It is with regret that the Glen Rock Police Department has learned of the passing of retired Borough Administrator Bob Freudenrich. He was Glen Rock’s first Borough Administrator, hired in the early 1970’s, retiring in the late 1990’s after 27 years of service. Bob remained active in the community up until the time of his passing. He most recently took part in Glen Rock’s Memorial Day services and the IDA Parade on July 4th.”

Glen Rock Police Rush Highly Intoxicated Man to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for detox

Glen Rock NJ, on July 2nd at 416am Glen Rock Police Patrols were dispatched to a report of a male adult laying in bushes near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and William Place. The subject was found to be in a highly intoxicated state and was subsequently transported to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for detox. A follow-up investigation is being conducted to confirm the man’s identity.

Ridgewood Youth Picked Up in Glen Rock after Alleged Illegal Entry

Glen Rock NJ, according to Glen Rock Police on June 29th at 917pm, a Main Street resident contacted police after an unknown individual entered the common hallway of his apartment building. The resident believed that the individual may have also opened the unlocked door to his apartment. The resident was able to locate one of the individuals involved a short distance from his apartment and identified the subject to the responding officers. The subject, a 15-year-old Ridgewood male, was detained by officers until his mother was able to respond a short time later. The juvenile was released to the custody of his mother without incident. It could not be determined if the subject had actually entered the complainant’s apartment.

Glen Rock Hard Hit by Tuesday’s Thunderstorm

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock was hit hard by an early evening thunderstorm on Tuesday, 07/06. Of the dozens of reported storm related incidents, these stood out: A single family home on Amherst Court took a heavy hit from a huge shade tree, and service on NJ Transit’s Bergen County Line was temporarily halted due to a downed tree just south of Harristown Road. Fortunately, despite the seemingly Borough wide existence of damages caused by strong winds and heavy rain, no storm related injuries were reported. Of course, Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock Fire Department personnel were on hand the ensure their residents’ safety, and were kept extremely busy throughout the entire storm event.

Harristown between Gramercy & Stonefield in both directions will be closed. Detours in place.

Glen Rock NJ, on the afternoon of June 24, 2021, following the last day of the school year, Glen Rock’s Crossing Guards were honored at a luncheon courtesy of Victor Quinn at the Glen Rock Inn, a long-standing tradition.
Adult school crossing guards, first established in Glen Rock during the early 1950’s, play an important role in the lives of our school children. They help them safely cross the street at key locations.
