“Swastika” Discovered in Glen Rock Middle School Bathroom

Glen Rock NJ, the director of security for the Glen Rock Public Schools reported graffiti in the form of a swastika which was discovered in a boy’s bathroom at the Glen Rock Middle School. School officials were unable to provide a time frame in which this may have occurred. There are no known witnesses nor was any other evidence recovered at the scene. This matter has been classified as a bias incident and was reviewed by the Detective Bureau.

Ridgewood Man Claims He Swerved to Avoid a Fox and Hit A Utility Pole in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, according to the Glen Rock Police a Ridgewood man was issued summonses after he struck a utility pole in Glen Rock and left the scene of the accident. He told officers later that he had swerved to avoid a fox.

Glen Rock Police Revive Crash Victim with Narcan

Glen Rock NJ, Friday May 14th at 1:23 PM, Glen Rock Police Patrols were dispatched to Midwood Road to investigate a 9-1-1 report of an unconscious man behind the wheel of a 2016 Mercedes SUV. Unable to rouse the driver, officers forced entry to the vehicle and removed the unconscious man who was subsequently administered Narcan. Upon being revived, care was turned over to arriving paramedics, and he was transported by Glen Rock EMS to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. One officer suffered minor injuries while forcing entry to the vehicle. He was treated on scene and declined further aid.

Investigation determined that the vehicle the victim was driving had run off the roadway causing damage to the front lawn of a Midwood Road residence.  The matter was documented for insurance purposes.

Academy of Our Lady School Placed into Lockdown after Ridgewood Parent became upset over school’s COVID-19 policies

Glen Rock NJ, an early morning call ( 8:36 AM ) on Wednesday May 12th resulted in multiple Glen Rock officers were dispatched to the Academy of Our Lady School in response to an irate and aggressive individual at their door which had resulted in the school being placed into lockdown in order to protect the students. Upon arrival officers field contacted a 46-year-old Ridgewood man who was aggressively knocking on the doors and windows.  Investigation determined that he was a parent who was upset about the school’s COVID-19 policies. Officers were able to calm the man down and acknowledge that his behavior had caused a disruption at the school.  The principal explained what he needed to do in order to comply with school policy and the man left the area without further incident.

Police Say Glen Rock Tire Slashing Work Related

Glen Rock NJ,  according to Glen Rock police a workplace dispute led to a Fair Lawn woman’s tires being slashed . The Fair Lawn resident reported that one tire had been slashed while her car was parked in a lot on the 1000 block of Maple Avenue.  Police were able to use video surveillance from a nearby business to identify who had done it. They later charged a 24-year-old Bloomfield resident with one count of criminal mischief.

Glen Rock Police Find Abandoned Drug Filled Car

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police reported officers found a green 2000 Buick Lesabre abandoned near the corner of Cumberland Road and Tonawanda Road. The vehicle VIN number was tampered with and police reported finding  heroin folds and crack cocaine vials inside the car. That vehicle was impounded for investigation.

Glen Rock NJ,  according to Glen Rock Police a car stolen from a Glen Rock driveway was found in Newark Saturday. It was the latest example of an unlocked car being “stolen” from a Bergen County driveway.

Car Stolen in Glen Rock involved in a motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway

Glen Rock NJ, at 1:20 AM on April 30th, the NJ State Police in Bloomfield reported that the stolen vehicle had been involved in a motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway. The occupant(s) fled the scene and left the vehicle behind, which sustained extensive damage. The Glen Rock Detective Bureau is continuing the investigation in cooperation with the NJ State Police.

Heavy Duty Wrecker Able to quickly Right the Vehicle Involved in Rollover Crash in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, Three (3) non-life threatening injuries were reported in connection with a Monday morning, 04/19, single vehicle rollover crash at the intersection of Elm Avenue and Harristown Road, Glen Rock. A heavy duty wrecker was able to quickly right the vehicle involved (a single axle box truck), which appeared to have sustained only minor damage. At least one (1) victim required ambulance transportation; he was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center via a Glen Rock BLS ambulance. Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock Fire Department also responded to the incident, as did an ambulance from the local hospital consortium. Fair Lawn Police assisted by providing incident traffic control.

Glen Rock NJ, from the Glen Rock Police Department , according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2019 distracted driving crashes killed 3,142 people in the U.S., an average of 9 deaths per day. That number was up 10 percent from the year before (2,839 deaths in 2018). In New Jersey, 137 people died in 2019 as a result of distracted driving.
Distracted driving remains a growing traffic safety problem according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety’s 2019 Traffic Safety Culture Index. The survey found most drivers (96 percent) believe typing or reading on a hand-held cellphone while driving to be very or extremely dangerous, but 39 percent admit to reading and 29 percent admit to typing on a smartphone at least once while behind the wheel within the last month.

Glen Rock Police Dispel Rumors of a Hate Crime Committed Against Grand Nails

Glen Rock NJ, the Glen Rock Police are aware of a rumor on social media that there was a hate crime committed against Grand Nails located at 934 Prospect St in Glen Rock. On the morning of April 1, 2021, a neighboring business reported the Grand Nails sign was damaged. A property damage report was taken and the owners of Grand Nails were spoken to. The damage to the sign appeared to be consistent with damage from a large truck. The inside frame is bent and twisted and there is no other damage to the business nor is there any damage to nearby Asian businesses. At the time of the report, no claim of al this being a hate crime was reported to police by the reporting party nor the business owners. This was treated as a simple accidental property damage report.
