Hasbrouck Hts NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of NORMAN DOBRES (DOB: 05/04/1964; married; and employed as a laborer) of 60A Hoehn Street, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault By Sexual Contact, and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Hasbrouck Height Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Colaneri.
Hasbrouck Heights NJ, A Manhattan man was sentenced today to 60 months in prison for robbing banks in Jackson Township, Fort Lee, and Hasbrouck Heights, as well as attempting to burglarize a fourth bank in Englewood between December 2013 and February 2017, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Oradell NJ, An Oradell, New Jersey, man today admitted robbing four banks, a liquor store, and a gas station between June 2017 and December 2017, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.
Joel Robbins, 47, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Katharine S. Hayden in Newark federal court to an information charging him with four counts of bank robbery and two counts of Hobbs Act robbery.

In the TD Bank robbery, Robbins walked into the bank wearing gray pants, a black jacket, sunglasses, a dark skull cap, and light-colored latex gloves. As he entered the bank, Robbins pulled a bandana over his face. Robbins’s accomplice, Wanda Soel, 52, of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, allegedly waited for Robbins in a Toyota Corolla parked outside the bank.
Robbins pulled a black handgun (later determined to be fake) from his waistband and pointed it at two bank tellers, demanded money from them and warned them not to “make me have to kill you.” The tellers complied and handed Robbins money. Robbins took the money and walked out of the bank, dropping several bills as he departed.
Robbins got into the passenger seat of the Corolla and Soel allegedly drove them away. Nearby law enforcement officers, who had received a report of the bank robbery while it was in progress, pursued the Corolla. Soel allegedly drove into the parking lot of a nearby hotel, where she and Robbins tried to switch places so Robbins could drive. When Soel got out of the Corolla, she tripped and fell, and Robbins drove away without her. Law enforcement officers arrested Soel in the hotel parking lot. Her bank robbery charges are pending.
Robbins drove out of the hotel parking lot but eventually hit a curb, blew a tire, and crashed. Law enforcement officers caught up to the Corolla and arrested Robbins. They recovered U.S. currency sticking out of Robbins’s pants and other cash bills strewn inside the Corolla, along with a fake black handgun. Officers also recovered sunglasses, a bandana, a dark knit cap, and latex gloves from the Corolla, resembling the items Robbins was seen wearing when he robbed the bank. Robbins was wearing a black jacket when he was arrested.
The counts of bank robbery and Hobbs Act robbery with which Robbins is charged each carry a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Attorney Carpenito credited special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Gregory W. Ehrie, with the investigation leading to the charge. He also thanked the Mahwah Township Police Department for its contribution to the case, as well as the police departments of Hanover Township, Parsippany, Hopatcong, Edgewater and Montville.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason S. Gould of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark.
The charges and allegations against Soel are merely accusations, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

As chairman of the N.J. Senate committee responsible for overseeing public transportation issues Gordon came under criticism ,for seeming out of touch with New Jersey Transits problems and failing to act until far to late.
The departure of the battleground district senator sets up the most likely potential for Assemblyman Joe Lagana (D-38) and Assemblyman Tim Eustace (D-38) to challenge for it. Republicans have long eyed the district and have come close to taking it several times.
Hackensack NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of ANGEL SARIOL (DOB: 3/30/1972; single; and employed as a custodian) of 22-24 Ward Street, Apartment 2H, Hackensack, NJ, on charges of Terroristic Threats and False Public Alarm. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and members of the Rochelle Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Robert Flannelly.
From Monday, March 19, 2018, through Wednesday, March 21, 2018, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit received information from no fewer than 19 municipal police departments in Bergen County about a substantially similar series of phone calls that they received during that three-day period from an anonymous caller. During many of these calls, the unknown caller stated that police officers from those towns would be murdered. The ensuing investigation, led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit and Rochelle Park Police Department, revealed that Angel SARIOL used technology to disguise his calling line identity and placed the phone calls.
As a result of the investigation, Angel SARIOL was arrested in Hackensack on Thursday, March 22, 2018 and charged with one count of False Public Alarm, N.J.S.A. 2C:33-3B, a 2nd degree crime; one count of Terroristic Threats During a State of Emergency, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3A, a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Terroristic Threats, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3A, a 3rd degree crime. Angel SARIOL was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court on March 23, 2018.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT will operate extra bus service on selected routes to and from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) on Saturday, March 17, to accommodate customers traveling to the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City. Trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule. Newark Light Rail will operate on a Saturday schedule. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule.
IMPORTANT NOTE: No beverages of any kind, in any type of container, open or closed, will be permitted on board trains, buses or light rail vehicles on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18. This policy will be strictly enforced.
NJ TRANSIT will have Ambassadors on hand at Secaucus Junction, Aberdeen/Matawan, Middletown, N.J., and Penn Station New York to assist customers traveling to/from the parade in New York City.

Moonachie NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrests of BRANDON BIALEK (DOB: 05/18/1985; single; lab aide) of 16 John Street, Apartment 1, Lodi, New Jersey on charges of Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision and Hindering Apprehension; and BRIAN BIALEK (DOB: 05/18/1985; single; maintenance worker) of 270 Lawrence Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey on a charge of Hindering Apprehension. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, members of the Moonachie Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Behrens, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Michael Saudino.
At approximately 5:50 A.M. on Friday, January 5, 2018, the Moonachie Police Department received a report of a pedestrian lying in the roadway on Route 46 East near the intersection with Industrial Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a deceased male victim lying in the roadway. The victim’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle. The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was later identified as 28-year-old Brian P. Rossi.
Evidence at the scene indicated that the striking vehicle was a black Ford Focus, sedan or hatchback, model year range 2012 to 2015. The striking vehicle fled the scene traveling eastbound on Route 46, before parking in the rear of a business establishment. A Mitsubishi Lancer arrived shortly thereafter, and both vehicles left together traveling east on Route 46, then north on Liberty Avenue towards Hackensack.
As a result of the investigation that followed, Brandon BIALEK was charged with one count of Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-5.1, a 2nd degree crime, and one count of Hindering Apprehension in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3, a 3rd degree crime. Brian BIALEK was charged with one count of Hindering Apprehension in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3, a 3rd degree crime. Brandon BIALEK was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. Brian BIALEK is scheduled for a first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on Monday, March 4, 2018 at 8:30 A.M.

Moonachie NJ, The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Moonachie Police Department are requesting information from the public regarding a hit and run collision which resulted in a pedestrian sustaining fatal injuries.
At approximately 5:50 a.m. on Friday, January 05, 2018, the Moonachie Police Department received a report of a pedestrian lying in the roadway on Route 46 East near the intersection of Industrial Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a deceased male victim, later identified as Brian P. Rossi, lying in the roadway. The victim’s injuries were consistent with having been struck by a motor vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Evidence at the scene indicates that the vehicle is a black Ford Focus, sedan or hatchback, model year range 2012 to 2015. The vehicle will have significant front end damage, including a broken passenger side headlight, and a broken passenger side-view mirror. The driver fled the scene traveling eastbound on Route 46, before parking in the rear of a business establishment. A Mitsubishi Lancer arrived shortly thereafter and both vehicles left together. They traveled east on Route 46, then north on Liberty Avenue towards Hackensack. Both vehicles were also seen traveling southbound on Terrace Avenue in the area of Route 17, headed towards Hasbrouck Heights. The vehicles seen in the photo below are the Mitsubishi Lancer, followed by the Ford Focus.

Ridgewood NJ, As many of you have already heard, Gladys passed away on Monday, after a short illness.Her wake will be on Friday December 8, 2017 from2-4 and 7-9 at Feeney’s Funeral home on Franklin Avenue in Ridgewood, NJ. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 at Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood, NJ.

Gladys Marian Jones VanLangen passed away peacefully with her family on Monday, December 4, at the ripe young age of 95. She was born in the Bronx, raised in Hasbrouck Heights, lived in Glen Rock for 54 years, and spent her final years in Ridgewood. At the age of 68, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of graduating from college with a degree in Psychology and Religion from Montclair State University.
Between working for the FBI during WWII and raising seven children, she pursued many personal passions, including painting, writing, playing the piano and organ, and feeding her birds.
She was a Pastoral Associate for over 40 years and volunteered in Pastoral Care in Valley Hospital and Hackensack Medical Center. Her work as a hospice volunteer was deeply meaningful to her. She was very active with many ministries in the parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St Catharine’s of Glen Rock. She was also an associate of the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace.
She is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Ted (1993). She is survived by her seven children: Linda Buckley, Jim VanLangen, Gail VanLangen (partner Tom Litow), Bob VanLangen (wife Kathy), Lisa Martin (husband Don), Rich VanLangen (wife Debbie), and Jeanne VanHassel (husband Abe). She was also the grandmother to 17 and great-grandmother to 12. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Dates.
Viewing will be at Feeney Funeral Home, Franklin Avenue in Ridgewood on Friday, December 8 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral mass will be held at Mt. Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood on Saturday, December 9 at 10:30 AM with burial immediately following at George Washington Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Rosary Hill Home (Hawthorne, NY) or Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America are appreciated.

NEW MILFORD, NJ – New Jersey once again is grabbing headlines as the worst state to do business in. The Tax Foundation, a non-partisan Washington-based think tank, released their 2018 State Business Tax Climate Index earlier this week, ranking New Jersey 50th overall in tax policy.
“While attempting to start a business and raise a family, all while being a constituent of Bob Gordon’s for the last fourteen years, I have personally experienced the unintended consequences of our Senator’s voting record that has led us here.” said Kelly Langschultz regarding the Tax Foundation’s findings.
“Voters in Bergen and Passaic have seen enough of Bob Gordon’s policies, which is why I’m campaigning aggressively to replace Gordon in three weeks and put our state back on the right track.”
The Tax Foundation rated New Jersey dead last in overall business climate, 42nd in Corporate Tax competitiveness, 48th in Individual Taxes, 46th in Sales Taxes and ranked New Jersey’s Property Taxes the highest in the nation.
“Whenever any legislation is on the Senate floor and Bob Gordon gets the opportunity to stand up for his constituents, the Senator fails every time. Every effort to seriously reform our state’s tax code and put New Jersey on the path to affordability and economic sustainability, Bob Gordon balks at every attempt to save those struggling in the 38th District. The sad truth, Bob Gordon has yet to meet a tax increase he didn’t like.”
While serving as councilwoman in New Milford, Kelly Langschultz presented a fiscal stability plan earlier this year that will continue to contribute towards the borough’s taxes remaining flat and will give New Milford a path towards responsibly paying down its debt while protecting taxpayers.
“The stability plan and financial know-how I’ve been providing to New Milford residents is exactly what Trenton needs, and I plan on providing the same kind of relief to the residents of New Jersey when I’m sworn in this January.”

Hasbrouck Heights NJ, The Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance in the state’s Department of Education investigated South Bergen Jointure Commission Superintendent Dawn Fidanza after receiving a complaint about her conduct.
Dawn Fidanza of Ridgewood is one of the highest paid public officials in Bergen County and one of the state’s highest-paid superintendents .
The Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance found that Fidanza transferred her daughter, Julia Fidanza, to another job in the district without the board’s approval in early 2016.
Specifically the state Education Department’s Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance found Fidanza created new job titles and transferred her daughter without board approval. She covered camera lenses so co-workers could not see her daughter’s “comings and goings” and attempted to influence her daughter’s supervisors about her evaluations.
Fidanza submitted her resignation, effective Dec. 31.
