UPDATE : Chain Reaction Crash on Garden State Parkway Involving a School Bus in Paramus Sends Several to the Hospital

Paramus NJ, no serious injuries were reported in the early Friday afternoon, 01/13, crash of mini school bus at mile marker 164.8 southbound on the Garden State Parkway in Paramus. The vehicle had been traveling north on the busy highway, but veered to the left, off of the paved roadway when its driver swerved to avoid another vehicle. It then careened across a grass center median & all southbound travel lanes, and came to rest on the southbound, right side grass shoulder. A series of injury-free, chain reaction, crashes on the Parkway’s northbound side occurred immediately after the mini bus careened off of the highway. Two (2) mini bus occupants were transported by ambulance to a local hospital; injuries were reported to have been non-life threatening in nature. The mini school bus was driven off of Parkway property by a tow truck driver and parked at a nearby hotel. A dozen or so occupants (students and teachers) were transported to the Paramus Park shopping mall to safely await repair of the bus, or the arrival of alternate transportation. Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, and the New Jersey State Police responded to the incident

Barnes & Noble on Route 17 in Paramus Closing

Paramus NJ, the Barnes & Noble on Route 17 in Paramus will be shutting its doors on February 11th, 2023 after 28 years, the landlord did not renew the lease at the site.  The company explained  that it wants to serve the Paramus community for “many, many more years.” and that Barnes & Noble is “doing everything” it can to find a replacement site with hopes to “return close to here with a new bookstore before long.”

Bed Bath & Beyond on the Precipice of Bankruptcy

Paramus NJ, Bed Bath & Beyond said it might not be able to continue as a going concern, bringing another US retail chain to the precipice of bankruptcy and potentially placing tens of thousands of employees at risk. The news comes less than a day after Amazon said it was firing more than 18,000 employees—8,000 more than expected—the biggest wave of terminations in its history.

Multi-vehicle Collision Takes Out Traffic Signal at the Intersection of Paramus Road and Grove Street in Paramus

Ridgewood NJ, a traffic light at the intersection of Paramus Road and Grove Street, Paramus was wiped out during a multi-vehicle collision at the very busy intersection early Wednesday afternoon, 01/04. No injuries were reported by the two (2) SUV drivers involved in the crash, nor by the driver, nor any passengers, on a NJ Transit bus that also appeared to have been involved in the incident. One (1) SUV was driven from the scene on its own power, the other was towed. Damage to the bus was apparently minimal. Paramus Police was assisted at the scene by a road patrol officer from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

Paramus Police Round Up 4 Home Break-in Suspects

Paramus NJ, according to Paramus police Deputy Chief Robert Guidetti , after neighbors reported a break-in , Nicolas Cortes, 22, was arrested Friday December 23rd waiting in a large sedan parked outside a home on Haywood Drive.

Paramus NJ, Tesla has revealed a wireless charging mat inspired by its Cybertruck’s angled design. The mat supports Qi-compatible devices and can charge up to three devices at a time at 15 watts each. It uses a charging technology called FreePower that allows devices to be charged in any position on the mat. Tesla’s Wireless Charging Platform can be preordered for $300 and will start shipping in February.

Driscoll, Assistant Director in Charge of the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”), announced today the unsealing of an Indictment charging LAMOR WHITEHEAD with defrauding one of his parishioners out of part of her retirement savings, attempting to extort and defraud a businessman, and lying to the FBI.  WHITEHEAD was arrested this morning and will be presented in federal court today before United States Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Stew Leonard’s Store in Paramus Park Evacuated Over a Carbon Dioxide Leak

Paramus NJ, according to Paramus Police eight employees were evacuated from Stew Leonard’s store in Paramus Park  in Bergen on Tuesday after a refrigeration pipe broke, filling the store with carbon dioxide before it opened to customers.

Paramus NJ, one (1) non-life threatening injury was reported following the Tuesday afternoon, 12/06, crash of a Lexus SUV into a nail salon on East Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus. A flatbed tow truck winched the vehicle from inside the structure and towed it away. Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, Paramus Fire Department, and the Paramus Rescue Squad responded to the mishap.

Bob was a security officer at Westfield Garden State Plaza for over 30 years. He was a good friend and colleague to the Paramus Police Department and all of Paramus’ First Responders. His dedication and enthusiasm for his job will be highly missed. A viewing will be held on Thursday December 8, 2022, at Petriks Funeral Parlor, 140 Palisades Ave, Bogota, from 9:00 Am till 9:30 Am.
