Paramus NJ, Acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo announces the following information:
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Paramus Police Department are investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred early this morning, September 23, 2018.
At approximately 2:40 a.m., the Paramus Police Department responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 4 West between Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road. Initial reports indicate that Vladimir Diaz was operating a 2006 Jeep Cherokee in the center lane when he was struck from behind by a 2011 Audi A4 driven by Herbert Reynoso (DOB: 09/07/94). As a result of the impact, Mr. Diaz’s car struck a utility pole. He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical condition. Reynoso’s vehicle continued approximately 800 feet, then struck a utility pole and overturned. Reynoso was treated and released from HUMC.
Paramus NJ, the Paramus Police Department has posted a scam warning : We have received several calls from victims reporting that they were called by the Paramus Police Department or another Police Department, stating that they have a warrant and then asking for banking information in order to pay the fines. The caller will spoof the police department’s real phone number making it look legitimate. IT IS NOT! NO Police Department will request this information from you. Do not give any credit card or banking information to ANYONE that calls you over the phone! It is always a scam! Call your local PD if you receive one of these calls. Please share this information!

Ridgewood NJ, Traffic Alert 8/24/18 ,East Ridgewood Ave will be closed beginning at 7:00am this morning from Maple Ave towards Paramus road while the road is milled in preparation for next weeks paving. Detours are in place. When the road is reopened this evening use caution when traveling the area as there will be several raised manholes until paving is complete. Expect delays in the area.
Paramus NJ, The New Jersey State Police arrested Shawn Kelly, 44 of Paramus, N.J., earlier this morning for a fatal hit-and-run boat crash as a result of a 23-month-long cooperative investigation with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Paramus NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of MARQUISE JAQUAVIS SMITH (DOB: 03/01/2000; single; and unemployed) of 123 History Trail, Winterville, Georgia for Terroristic Threats and False Public Alarm. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Paramus Police Department under the direction of Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg.
Ridgewood NJ, Valley’s plans to build a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Paramus received a significant boost, with two gifts totaling $35 million to The Valley Hospital Foundation. The gifts include $20 million from a long-time Valley supporter who wishes to remain anonymous, and $15 million from The Bolger Foundation, which was established by philanthropist David F. Bolger, another long-time Valley benefactor.
Paramus NJ, Paramus Police, Paramus Fire Department , and Paramus Rescue Squad personnel responded to a structural collapse at a single family home located in the 300 block of Hickory Avenue on Wednesday morning, 08/08. A neighbor called 911 to report that the roof of an attached garage had collapsed into the structure. No injuries were reported in the incident. A sub code official from the Borough of Paramus’ Building Department was summoned to evaluate the home’s suitability for continued occupancy.

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Paramus Police Department under the direction of Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg.
In July 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that SAMUEL RODRIGUEZ was involved in the distribution of Cocaine. During the course of an investigation, Samuel RODRIGUEZ distributed Cocaine to an undercover detective on multiple occasions, including Thursday, July 26, 2018 when he was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with the following: one count of Distribution Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine in a quantity of one-half ounce or more but less than five ounces, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(2), a crime of the 2nd degree; one count of Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine, in a quantity of one-half ounce or more but less than five ounces, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(2), a crime of the 2nd degree; one count of Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Oxycodone, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10A(1), a crime of the 3rd degree; and one count of Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-3, a disorderly persons offense. RODRIGUEZ was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Paramus Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
Paramus NJ, A Wednesday morning, 07/18, multi-vehicle chain reaction crash on Route 4 westbound at Paramus Road, Paramus resulted in one (1) driver being transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Paramus Police and Fair Lawn Police responded to the incident along with an ambulance from Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. A flatbed tow truck was summoned to remove the wrecked vehicles. Significant traffic back ups were reported on Route 4 westbound through the Paramus area.
Paramus NJ, A Tuesday morning, 07/17, motor vehicle collision involving two (2) vehicles at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road, Paramus required the services of Paramus Rescue Squad’s “Jaws of Life” to free the driver of a 4-door sedan who was trapped in her vehicle post crash impact. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS also responded to the incident. Paramus EMS ambulances transported two (2) crash victims to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. Both vehicles, the sedan and an SUV, were removed by flatbed tow trucks.
Paramus NJ The uninjured driver of a white colored, BMW, 4-door sedan with NY license plates was taken into custody by Paramus Police after his vehicle crashed head on into a utility pole on Route 17 northbound near Powers Drive, Paramus on Sunday morning, 06/24. The right travel lane and right hand shoulder were closed following the crash to facilitate repairs to the damaged utility pole and electric/communications cables. The wrecked BMW was removed from the scene by flatbed tow truck.
