Ridgewood NJ, according to Ridgewood Chief of Police Forest R. Lyons, on January 31, 2024, the Ridgewood Police Department was made aware that a student at one of our schools was in possession of a toy gun. Our officers immediately ensured the toy was secured and there was no threat to any students or staff. Our department determined the miniature, plastic toy gun was not used to commit/attempt to commit a crime, was not an imitation firearm, and not of evidentiary value. No further police action was deemed necessary beyond the initial investigation.

Recognizing the possibility that eligible students might overlook this information, we’re directing this opportunity straight to parents. If your high school senior plans to major or minor in music in college, they qualify to apply for a Friends of Music scholarship. FOM offers two scholarship options for high school seniors—the first is exclusive to those majoring in music in college, while the second extends eligibility to those minoring in music as well.

Two reports were shared and discussed: the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and the Auditor’s Management Report, which includes findings and recommendations.

Ramsey NJ, Ridgewood Crew rowed its way to a gold medal, a silver medal, and seven top ten finishes overall at the 2024 Ironmen Erg Classic hosted by Don Bosco Preparatory High School. Nearly 500 youth rowers from 17 different clubs in New York and New Jersey competed at the indoor rowing event, which is now in its 11th year.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog has learned thru the Ridgewood High School Alumni Association of the passing of beloved teacher, coach and counselor Richard “Dick” LaRue. Dick’s commitment to education spanned a lifetime. He began his career at RHS teaching English and Spanish, in addition to coaching soccer and track, from 1953 to 1958. After almost 20 years away, Dick returned to RHS in 1977 to serve as a guidance counselor until his retirement in 1990.
