Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Maroons narrowly defeated in Friday night’s North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 semifinal round between Ridgewood and West Orange . The 6th seeded West Orange Mountaineers pulled off an upset over the 2nd seeded Ridgewood Maroons in a nail biter with the game decided in overtime by the visiting Mountaineers defeating the Maroons 34-31.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood ladies soccer team captures their second straight sectional title, and remains undefeated. Two goals by Isabella Winn sandwiched around a tally by Jessica Kaye, the Maroons remained undefeated and repeated as North 1, Group 4 sectional champions with a 3-0 defeat of West Orange.

RHS Football Coach Chuck Johnson Posts his 300th victory, selected as the High School Coach of the Week

Ridgewood NJ, the New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Chuck Johnson of Ridgewood High School  as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 9 of the 2022 season. Coach Chuck Johnson earned his 300th victory on Friday night. He is the third coach in North Jersey history to win 300 games – joining Tony Karcich and Greg Toal – and the first to accomplish that feat while coaching exclusively at public schools. Johnson’s 44-year career includes six seasons at Bogota from 1978-83, where he went 35-19-1, and 1984 to the present at Ridgewood, where he is 265-125-1; his career record amounts to 300-144-2 overall. Johnson is now six wins short of the most wins by a North Jersey coach at one school – a record presently held by Nick DelCalzo of Hasbrouck Heights at 270 wins.

Ridgewood Crew Travels to Boston for the Head of The Charles Regatta

Ridgewood NJ, originating in 1965, the Head of the Charles Regatta is the largest 3-day regatta in the world. This year, more than 11,000 rowers from around the globe competed in the Head of the Charles Regatta from October 21-22. Participating boats are selected by lottery. 3 of our senior rowers qualified to race.

Ridgewood NJ,Village Council Candidate Siobhan Winograd spearheaded a group called “One Village One Vote” ,which promoted the idea that eliminating the school budget vote would somehow increase voter turn out , yes you read that right , voting less would somehow increase voter turn out . The group also claimed that eliminating the school budget vote would also increase voter participation and  increase transparency, not voting would increase transparency.

Half of student loan forgiveness recipients will use relief to go on vacation

Ridgewood NJ , the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals granted an administrative stay against canceling any debt under President Joe Biden’s federal student loan forgiveness program Friday.

Republicans are attempting to block Biden’s student loan relief plan saying it’s “economically unwise and downright unfair,” and that the relief will not go to those who really need it.

Ridgewood Crew Dominates At Overpeck Fall Classic

Ridgewood NJ,  Ridgewood Crew took on a 3,200 meter head course at Overpeck Creek for the annual Fall Classic, hosted by Montclair High School Rowing on October 16, 2022. Thirty-four clubs participated with teams ranging from juniors to masters. Ridgewood Crew participated with 20 entries of Ridgewood High School athletes. Seven Gold Medals, Three Silver and Two Bronze Medals. Head Coach Boris Roque Alvarez was pleased with the team’s performance.
